I think it will be us, you guys, Russians and Swiss into the quarters. Sweden looks terrible so far and I think they will continue to drop points. Swiss are the team I have the most trust in so far but I still think every team is due at least 1 bad performance whether it be in the round robin or not. It’s funny that the no.1 overall spot may end up being one to avoid in group A. I would not want to meet one of Canada or Finland as the 4 seed in group B despite their weak play so far.

As crazy as this tournament is... I still think the final 4 will be the usuals. Imagine winning our pool and getting a in form or pissed off Canada as a reward?lol

Pesan seems to be getting mocked pretty good for his stoic ways. I'm still a fan and have no problem with his coaching but the meme's are getting funny.

I wish I'd got the other one.. it was in Czech and said 'you don't have to worry about being eliminated in the quarters if you don't make them'.lol

The weird thing is that it's been a clear top 5 for awhile. But, in the last decade, there is occasionally a miracle run... Swiss a few times, France had a nice one, Germans at Olympics, Slovakia medalled at WJHC, now all the smaller nations are dominating. How it is the Czechs haven't had one of these runs?lol

Well, we won silver at the U18 WJC in 2014.

I wish my Czech team the Swedish awakening that I witnessed tonight.

That was the most impressive hockey performance that I've seen in a while. Sweden completely destroyed Switzerland

Am I correct in assuming that a loss to Sweden would be the nail in the coffin for our QF ambitions?

I'm not 100 percent but I don't think so?

We'd have to run the table on GB, Denmark and Slovakia for 9 points and that would give us 11 points which might be enough. A win would definitely give us breathing room though. It's going to be a tough game. Swedes looked amazing today.

and the reason I think the 11 points would be enough is because we'd have wins over Belarus, Denmark, GB and Slovakia in my made up scenario. It's a crazy tournament.. I have no idea what to expect anymore.lol

It really is, it’s funny how Switzerland and Slovakia game becomes that much more important. If Swiss lose, they could be in danger of missing QF’s as they would have to beat a reinforced Russian team and Belarus who have given everyone problems.

Exactly. It reminds me of when Czechs open WJHC with wins against Russia and everyone thinks our hockey is fixed and we'll be fine. Then we lose the rest of the games.lol

I REALLY don't want the Slovakia game to be a high stakes event where one of us eliminates the other.

So Ondřej Vitásek is definitely out for the rest of the tournament (broken ribs) We will continue with 8 healthy defensemen.

Vrana is hurt. Some kind of arm injury. Took the day off. They hope he plays tomorrow. Good time to be hurt with 2 days off. Hope he comes back and scores a goal. Swedes had an insane victory over the Swiss but I 'think' they lose their best player to injury. \

Tomorrow is very close to must win as we are in a bit of trouble. I still think we could lose to Sweden and run the table and make it but I'm not sure. I also don't want to be in a must win against Slovakia as I'm cheering for them. So let's win tomorrow!

So who had us dead last heading into the game with Sweden? 12 pts available. Not sure how many we need and definitely not sure how many we'll get!

Ok. We'll have to see then. God it'll be tough tomorrow. We never play well against Sweden....

Have a feeling they will wake up against Sweden and go on a nice run that takes them to medal rounds.

If that doesn't happen, too bad. The squad is probably top-3 team in the tournament on paper, unfortunately the game so far has been atrocious. Despite being a big fan of Pesan, if the tournament does end up as a total embarassement (missing the QF,) he needs to go, no excuse for him to lead this roster in such a weak competition to potentially the worst result in the Czech history.

By the way, it's time for Kovar to pull his head out of his a** and start playing decent hockey. Comfortably the biggest letdown for me personally, closely followed by Vrana. Moravcik has been worse than both, just comically bad, but at least I had no expectations here. Aside from like three games at his first WC, he has been very up and down internationally, more often than not down though. Still find it funny he somewhow fooled an NHL organisation into giving him a contract lol.
