Another update from Elliotte. Leafs will meet with Knies either tomorrow or Wednesday. He thinks it's likely he goes back. Also says Leafs are interested Meyers.
Meyers wouldn't be a bad consolation prize for having to wait 'til next year for Knies.Another update from Elliotte. Leafs will meet with Knies either tomorrow or Wednesday. He thinks it's likely he goes back. Also says Leafs are interested Meyers.
Abruzzese is getting 9 minutes per game on the 4th line, and that's when he's not a healthy scratch. I doubt that's the incentive that would entice a guy who's on the fence about joining this year.I can understand his hesitation but if I see the chance Abruzzese is getting and the Leafs are offering me to play with AM/MM or WN/JT for the next 8-10 games and possibly the PO it would be hard for me to turn down.
And with his size and playing style the risk of injury playing in college would be a huge risk and set your career back
Money??Abruzzese is getting 9 minutes per game on the 4th line, and that's when he's not a healthy scratch. I doubt that's the incentive that would entice a guy who's on the fence about joining this year.
We all project him to be a perfect linemate for Matthews or Tavares wing but knowing Keefe that would never happen, not this year at least.
That's not to say he can't make an impact playing on the 4th line, but other than burning a year on his ELC I don't see why he'd want to sign just to sit in the press box
You expecting him to play on the top line.Abruzzese is getting 9 minutes per game on the 4th line, and that's when he's not a healthy scratch. I doubt that's the incentive that would entice a guy who's on the fence about joining this year.

while they have oustanding programs and coaches, it's the lack of games played at the highest level for the age group , Matthews played 44 games total over 3 years in that program where as an example Mitch Marner played 75 games including Memorial cup games in his last year at LondonSo does the US development system not prepare players for the NHL like CHL?
As I understand yes that is correct. Knies would be eligible because he is on the Leafs reserve list. Meyers would not as h isnt. He could play for the rest of the regular season tho.I know this is a Knies thread but I saw Meyers mentioned above. My understanding was that Meyers would not be playoff eligible (for Leafs or Marlies or whichever team he signs with) for this season. Is that correct?
If I'm not mistaken Knies would be because we had his NHL rights by the trade deadline by drafting him. Meyers isn't because we did not have his rights by the trade deadline as he was undrafted and unsigned. As I understand yes that is correct. The NHL money is going nowhere, almost 100% sure he's on a full scholarship so college is free, and he could be a person who just wants to experience as much of college life as he can.Money??
Get informed, teams asked for him, Dubas said no, that doesn't constitute "almost traded". Not saying his mom isn't crazy, haven't seen the video but Lotsa hockey parents are kooksDid anyone see that vid someone posted here of Knies parents? Woo boy, no wonder he was almost traded. Mama Knies has nothing on Marners rents. Incredible.
Let him wait.
No wonder he dropped to such a low position. My opinion of course.
