Meyers would be a good signing. He went to Bruins camp last year, so we shall see what he chooses.

I can understand his hesitation but if I see the chance Abruzzese is getting and the Leafs are offering me to play with AM/MM or WN/JT for the next 8-10 games and possibly the PO it would be hard for me to turn down.
And with his size and playing style the risk of injury playing in college would be a huge risk and set your career back
Abruzzese is getting 9 minutes per game on the 4th line, and that's when he's not a healthy scratch. I doubt that's the incentive that would entice a guy who's on the fence about joining this year.

We all project him to be a perfect linemate for Matthews or Tavares wing but knowing Keefe that would never happen, not this year at least.

That's not to say he can't make an impact playing on the 4th line, but other than burning a year on his ELC I don't see why he'd want to sign just to sit in the press box

You expecting him to play on the top line.
The kid has been here for 10 days.
We are trying to keep everyone fresh for the playoffs.
Blackwell deserves to be higher in the lineup but that is the problem of having good players now, when you get your chance grab it .
His time will come.

I know this is a Knies thread but I saw Meyers mentioned above. My understanding was that Meyers would not be playoff eligible (for Leafs or Marlies or whichever team he signs with) for this season. Is that correct?

So does the US development system not prepare players for the NHL like CHL?
while they have oustanding programs and coaches, it's the lack of games played at the highest level for the age group , Matthews played 44 games total over 3 years in that program where as an example Mitch Marner played 75 games including Memorial cup games in his last year at London

Some say that the body takes too much of a beating when it's still growing to play all that hockey but when you look at a guy like Shanny who played 116 OHL games and then played 1755 games as a pro including international matches and played like a bull moose on skates and he seems pretty good, although who knows, maybe it's with a lot of therapy both physical and chemical

Big three in tennis were all waste cases in their late twenties, always getting injured, in their thirties, unbeatable.

New trainers? bwahahahahahahahaha.

Bot(bout) all I can say.

As I understand yes that is correct. Knies would be eligible because he is on the Leafs reserve list. Meyers would not as h isnt. He could play for the rest of the regular season tho.

Us - Toronto is the center of the hockey universe, everyone wants to play here!

Also us - Why would he want to come here when he go back to college !?

If I'm not mistaken Knies would be because we had his NHL rights by the trade deadline by drafting him. Meyers isn't because we did not have his rights by the trade deadline as he was undrafted and unsigned.

Yep.

While he may get a couple games with the top guys, Knies would have to win the coaches trust over a fair group of NHL level top 9 wingers. Which probably isn't going to happen as at this stage Keefe is focusing on winning not development.

Did anyone see that vid someone posted here of Knies parents? Woo boy, no wonder he was almost traded. Mama Knies has nothing on Marners rents. Incredible.

Let him wait.

No wonder he dropped to such a low position. My opinion of course.

The NHL money is going nowhere, almost 100% sure he's on a full scholarship so college is free, and he could be a person who just wants to experience as much of college life as he can.

Honestly it would be nice if they could sign him to an ELC so once the NCAA season is over he could join the Leafs or Marlies, but the silly archaic NCAA rules don't allow that.

Get informed, teams asked for him, Dubas said no, that doesn't constitute "almost traded". Not saying his mom isn't crazy, haven't seen the video but Lotsa hockey parents are kooks

What video....

Which is what he said…..

that would make him first generation American...

Nitpicky, but 1st generation immigrant is when you're born in another country and then immigrant to another.

2nd generation is when one or more parent is an immigrant but you were born in the new country.

Knies is 2nd immigrant since he was born in the US to Slovakian parents
