Kopi is playing great. Unfortunately it is hard to score even strength goals in the playoffs. Kings PP is not clicking at a % that could help them. Any time an offensive player draws 3 defenders to him in the offensive dot with no team support tells me there is four la players on the defensive side of the puck and in position to play defense.
The fly by at center ice by the king defender and inability to force Mcdavid up the boards tells me that they want 97 skating up the middle of the ice or not a very good job of angling the player up the boards. 4 la defenders in good position pre occupied with 3 offensive players should not result in a goal. Who doesn't want to watch a game seven in the playoffs. Kings fans love game sevens. Hopefully Arvidsson plays.

Arvidsson was already ruled out.

He's definitely the village troll.

I do think his views on TMac are more legit than many peoples here. I think that is what gets him the most angry is the (IMO atleast) unfair hatred of TMac, but he has let it engulf him to much and become his shtick to defend everything, even what have been clearly awful decisions (Iafallo, Kaliyev, Cal P)

Sports is the ultimate results oriented business, and TMac has this team not only in the playoffs but in a position to advance a round despite having zero first line forwards and not having his only first pairing defenseman over half the season + playoffs. He is kind of right to say it's dumb that people talk about Barry Trotz when the Kings were up 3-2 in the first round.

I just don't get the posts such as the one I replied to earlier today, like what is the point of that post? Sometimes people should think before the hit the post button.

That is fair, but Kopi has definitely lost a step. He just looks like he's been laboring this season. Remember his rookie year when he blew by Pronger?
do you remember the speed of the game his rookie season?

Oh no, are you disappointed in me?? Not sure I can live with that....

Sorry, can't stand reading this garbage after every loss. When we win, everyone is ecstatic and this is the best team in a decade...when we lose, it's time to fire everyone and whine like babies about all our prospects. Oh, another thing....breaking news, Kopitar is slower than he was in 2007.

Than maybe stop, if you truly cannot stand it than just stop. go be happy

Athanasiou proved why he should not be back next season with his repeated mistakes last night. He thinks he's Mario Lemieux out there, trying to stickhandle through an entire team, stupid penalties, stupid decision making, absolutely zero hockey sense. Bumping him up the lineup in place of Brendan Lemieux was a mistake by the coaching staff.
they should play AA every other game. He is only good after being benched

Look at my post count, dude...does it appear that I spend a lot of time here? BTW, I tee off at 11:30, I'll be unavailable this afternoon.

Agree that he shouldn't be back, but when the coach has him out there in the last 90 seconds down by one at 6 on 5 you wonder if Todd has the blinders on for him and goes to Blake and asks he be extended. "He's one of my guys despite some of his shortcomings, I strongly suggest we look to extend him."

Let's hope not. Let one of the guys down in Ontario take his place next season. Hoping we do not see him in game 7 but I fear he's going to be in there.

Remember when the Oilers traded multiple 2nd round draft picks for him at the deadline a few years ago? :DD

That is another valid point. The speed of the game in 2022 is just at another level from what it was in 2006 when Kopitar debuted. And yes, part of Kopi's struggles with pace is him getting older and slower, but most of it is just the younger players coming in almost all skate well and the style of play has changed because of it.

For most of his career Kopitar was still in a chip and chase NHL where guys like Dwight King and Dustin Penner could be assets while being awful skaters. In today's game, unless you have some incredible skill (like Kaliyev's shot) you are fighting an uphill battle if you can't skate well.

Are they using Kaliyev correctly on the power play? Should he be taking those slap shots from where he is? Or would he be better on the right wall taking wristers?

to be fair to Kopi McDavid blows by everyone...all the time.

McDavid has one speed....go.

I brought up the GDT's because you lay into AA every one of them, which is fine, many nights (like last night) he deserved it. Everyone has players they don't like, yours is clearly AA and players they really probably like to much. For me its probably Moore and Spence, for you I think you tend to give way to much of a favorable analysis based on a players age.

Can I ask you an honest question. Who in your opinion had a better season this year for the Kings, Gabe Vilardi or AA? No context, no excuses, no age. Who was the better player this season for the Kings? I just don't understand why one player gets dumped so much while another player with basically across the board worse metrics is who many want to play.

That's bullshit. I've praised him frequently too, especially down the stretch--I was attentive to that because I knew people like you were looking for 'gotcha' quotes about it. I want to like AA, he seems to like it here, he's enthusiastic about the team, he's instant offense--but everything I've said about his bad side is coming true as well, no? For me, it's not that I 'like' the kids too much, you're mistaking me fighting for opportunities for them for me thinking they're better than everyone.

AA had a better season than Gabe, that's easy. Why is it so hard to understand one gets dumped on because he's a finished product and one doesn't contitnually get dumped on because he's hardly playing and should be learning? AA gets cushy deployment on the top six to make his continual mistakes, while Gabe Vilardi gets Jordan Weal'ed by the coaching staff. The criticism is disproportionate because of age and opportunity and the reason for making mistakes. Why can you not understand why the kids should have a longer leash, particularly ALL REGULAR SEASON?

The Kings haven't lost a game 7 since 2002 when they lost to the Avs in the opening round. Correct me of I'm wrong, but I think the Kings have never lost a game 7 when leading the series 3-1 or 3-2. This all means we're losing tomorrow.
Funny thing about those Avs series, the Kings were down 3-1 to force game 7 in 2001, then did it again in 2002. Avs prevailed in spectacular fashion in both game 7s though.

hahahahahahahahh kill me

Oilers win 37-0, 4 goals in the first minute

I thought I saw Quick stretching on his belly during play just when they were leaving the zone.
I don't remember when it was but I thought it was strange but nobody commented on it during the broadcast.
Hopefully its nothing.

After watching the 3rd period again, AA is not a smart player. Between shooting it in so Smith could play it over and over and start a breakout, to the dumb one on 3 on 1 moves that resulted in the last two goals. WTF was he thinking [ or not in this case] not just chipping it in with tired guys out there? He turned it over , then went for a change leaving Berry wide open for the goal. He didn't even EARN a minus, Grundy did because came on the ice for him.

They needed a goal, he's got some speed, some skills and it's not like he hasn't scored some goals this year. It's not some egregious error.

Where did you get those baby pictures?

I'm okay not resigning AA. For all of his speed/skill, he gives up the rest in boneheaded plays and defensive lapses. Hurts not having Arvidsson out there for sure. Another thing - Kopi just can't seem to keep up w/ the plays. Did you see how fast McDavid blew by him?

This series should be reassuring for everyone. The core looks good - Blake has some work to do in rounding out the roster..but it's trending the right direction. I think Grundstrom played his way into a permanent spot in the lineup next year with how he's doing in the playoffs.

there's a core???
