Wayne Gretzky discussed this on Spittin Chiclets last week, almost all NHL players have a respect for each other, they know they are all professionals, all have kids etc and no one is out there trying to intentionally hurt other players. It’s basically Cold War MAD if everyone has that idea.

I get that, but name me another one man team that you can guarantee the series by the removal of that one player.

Draisaitl has the luxury of not being the guy on their team so I’m not worried about him at all

I do agree somewhat, however Maatia had 2 guys on his inside, the angle he took was poor at best he needed to cheat more towards the wall a bit. The coverage was there on the inside. McDavid being able to cross across the crease that close to the nest is lethal.

Easier said than done I know.

It was pretty obvious he was saving juice for a potential playoff run. The whole league does it, we just notice it more because Kopitar has been such a 2-way BEAST for YEARS.
