I was being sarcastic about Durzi.Hey, I have been saying since his first game that Durzi is the single worst defenseman I have ever seen. That hasn't changed one bit, the kid is a defensive disaster, but he is one hell of a hockey player. He just goes for it and it has worked a little bit more than it has cost. The last couple of games, not so much.
Kopitar though, dude has become a liability over the past few weeks. He is routinely getting beat on plays he used to be able to make in his sleep. Too many minutes, too many miles.
I would speculate that management thought that if they leaned on the kids too early that they would be too far behind to get them into meaningful games late in the year. So, if that really was the plan, this is what would have been expected (minus the defensive injuries) from the team and likely explains the hesitancy to spend big to add to this teams chances.
Agree that Kopitar's taken a nosedive for some time.
I figured this year was a "compete for the playoffs" year. The Kings should have done a better job integrating youth up front early on. But yeah, this is a byproduct of leaning too heavily on the vets.
