Man, if Lemieux and Arvidsson are out, how will the Kings justify benching Grundstrom? Are they just going to roll 7 D?
i feel for vilardi and lias, i don't watch the whole games but in the highlights they genuinely looked bored when they score those goals.. not sure if they're good enough to keep up in the bigs but sometimes they really look wasted in the AWe are currently second in the Pacific with 69 points in 57 games, on pace for 99 points. If we exclude the first eight games of the season (where we went 1-7), we're on a 112-point pace. That's pretty wild. We're also ahead of both Dallas and Nashville. Even still, we're only 12th in the league in terms of points percentage. The only Eastern Conference playoff team that we're currently ahead of in the standings is Washington, on a technicality, because we have more ROWs. Still, had someone told me that we'd be in second place in our division in March, I wouldn't have believed them.
On the flip side, the Ducks are all but out of it now with 61 points in 57 games, on pace for 87 points. The Canucks have now passed them. If any California team is going to make the playoffs, it's us and only us. The Sharks on on pace for an 80 point season. It's nice to be out of the dark ages again.
I wonder what we'll do at the trade deadline? I'd love to see Vilardi called up before then to see what he can do. Give him top line minutes with Kempe and Kopitar and see what happens. A guy like Andersson could help our bottom six too.
At home you might try this setup -- in Boston that bottom line will get crushed. Due to fatigue they're going to have to roll all 4 and I expect to see Grundstrom on line 2.For once I agree with your pairings.
I’d like to see Vilardi up too, but folks wondering why JAD is on the 1st line should watch his work in Ontario from earlier this year. They asked him to go down and work on his offensive game, and he did exactly that. He led the team in PPG, and I believe was over a Pt/G as well.
It’s important for an organization that players see others get rewarded for achieving what they’re asked, so I’ve got no problem with it even if I’d prefer Vilardi there.
Fist of all: f***What we'll get:
Brown - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Tynan
Iafallo - Byfield - Athanasiou
JAD - Lizotte - Kaliyev
Grundstrom

Byfield's gotta work on his passing game. Far too often is he passing behind players on an odd man rush.
Last game of the road trip tomorrow. They will just plug in Grundy with RV and Peppy out. Reign players are 3,000 miles away. Only extra player now is Moverare. TMac is back tomorrow.
It looks like Athanasiou is drawing in based on how they skated yesterday according to Dooley:
Anderson-Dolan – Kopitar – Kempe
Moore – Danault – Arvidsson
Iafallo – Byfield – Brown
Athanasiou – Lizotte – Kaliyev
Grundstrom
I'm not sure I understand the Kings' fascination with Athanasiou. His individualistic style of play is the exact opposite of what has made the Lizotte line so good. Grundstrom fills the necessary role much better.
Don't worry they'll call up Tynan
They will probably call up Lias and get him on the 3rd line...move Brown up to line 2 (to kill it) and Todd will be back just in time, to bench Lias,
after he makes 1 Dustin Brown type gaffe ...the kind Brown makes 2-3 times per shift. Even though Lias has won all 3 of his board battles, made 2 great plays and has 2 shots and created a few chances...
Team is in a weird place now that all 4 lines will have been scrambled (as of tomorrrow). To me the 2nd line is crucial to keep scoring. Who do you slot in for RV - lets assume he out a week (of course hope its none).. Ill guess that TM puts 22 there and Grundstrom to the 4th line.
