You still don't get it, never have, never will.
Kopitar doesn't dominate shift by shift anymore, but he is playing more and more like a #1 offensive center is his old age. And I love it, its all I wanted from him.
Always said that the #1c's primary responsibility is being the teams driving offensive force, and that while its nice that he's defensively responsible, that can't be his primary focus. It hurts your teams offensive potential. Far - far too often Kopitar hasn't taken that driving force mantle and his team has suffered for it DESPITE his ability to do so. And the Kings haven't been a threat for the vast majority of Anze's career despite his 200 ft zeal. He has always had 100 point potential but played a 65 point game, and they always needed more offense AND had Handzus, Stoll and Richards to do that dirty business, but he chose to grind it out anyway.
Now that Danault has taken that real 200 foot ownership, its terrific to see our #1c putting offense first and piling up the points while relieved of all that unnecessary hard work.
The Kings have two real forechecking beast lines and a top line that is a real threat. If they can just stop losing momentum every time the 3rd line gets out there - and maybe find a physical defenseman to clear the crease - they are in a better position than they have been in years.
