Kopi can use some games off and let’s give Fagemo and Moverare a shot:

Kempe-Danault-Fagemo
AI-Turcotte-Arvidsson
Moore-Kupari-Brown
Lemieux-Lizotte-Kaliyev

Doughty-Anderson
Roy-Bjornfot
Durzi-Moverare

I wouldn't breakup Moore-Danault-Arvidsson right now.

And you can learn some interesting things. Our PK sucks we all know. Let's go deeper. 25 total PPGA. 14 goals while Kopi has been on the ice. Roughly 66+ minutes of TOI. 4 goals against while Danault is out there in roughly 60 minutes of TOI. 6 goals against while Lizotte is out there in 28 minutes or so, BUT 3 short handed goals for. 9 goals against in 36 minutes with Drew out there. 9 goals against in 70 or so minutes for Roy, but also 4 shorties for. I chose Doughty and Roy because they're almost never out there together on the PK. Oh and in 17 minutes of PK time, Durzi zero goals allowed while mostly paired with Tobi. Anyway, interesting data nonetheless. Do with it what you will.

Do they provide a way to compare quality of opponent? Like if Drew is out against top PP line and Roy is against the 2nd, I'd assume there's a big difference in facing against Ovie verses a Tom Wilson or whoever. I'm just wondering if they have a way to adjust for that?

Me neither. But I also find myself saying this every time a new Danault line combo emerges. He makes everyone around him better.

Exactly, he's the common denominator because he's an absolute animal on and away from the puck. Doesn't matter who you line him up with. I see this same kind of impact from Turcotte eventually but with more speed and creativity.

No idea, but that's why I provided the site link. For those that want to, dig in and have fun.

I have hope that the team is doing well while Kopitar is not driving the bus.

It's why the Byfield succession plan is of the utmost importance. He needs to be that franchise 1st line center and relatively soon. If QB starts showing the ability, will the coaching staff have the guts to move Kopi down? Kopi needs a bounce back streak of games. He's now on pace for a 60+ point season and 20 goals. He's fallen off big time.

Its not even the points. He has a yearly pointless streak but still does all the little things well. Right now he just looks off in all facets of the game.

Frankly this is why I've emphasized the importance of development up front. The youth needs to be able to take over. And not just for this generation of prospects.

Before bringing in Danault I thought Kopitar would be the perfect 3rd line center on this team in 2-3 years with QB and Vilardi as top 2. Man how things have changed.

Kopitar won't be the 3rd line center
Vilardi won't be the 2nd line center
And I hope I don't strike out with the 3rd prediction :(

I still have hopes that Kopitar, Byfeild, Danault down the middle (in any order) will be very good.

Bingo, there's a lot of consternation about giving kids bigger roles, but it's better to start giving them a taste now rather than 3/4 of the way through the season Kopitar has one foot in the coffin and they're like "congrats alex here's 20 minutes, and you HAVE to crush them because Kopitar can't anymore."

Funny, that's what I thought the trade for Danault was about as well.

I don't think it happens until Billy Beane walks in Todd's office and tells him he can't start Pena at first.

I just dont understand how working Kopitar to the bone at his age is going to make him better. Thats the only logic you can have for that decision. And its illogical.

Do you guys ever give it a rest? TM has this team in a playoff spot right now and playing their best hockey in years...we should give all that up to play Kaliyev and Byfield on the first line? Insanity....development is important, but selling tickets is more important...and if this team is rolling, there won't be any changes no matter how many goals that Kopitar isn't scoring.
