Oh, and hopefully it's just cobwebs from Covid, but Doughty fully looks like a guy who turned off the switch the moment they announced NHLers weren't going to the Olympics. I posted I was worried about that before, it was FULLY there tonight, back to the guy that's content to let his partner chase the pucks and guys in the corner.
You think its time to trade the core? Quick to Edmonton if they take back Koskinen. Brown to Rangers or Washington for a pick at the deadline. Maybe Toronto would make room for Drew and Kopitar would agree to go play for Sutter in Calgary if Kings retained and took back Monahan.
Its not even about the assets youd get in return as much as its allowing a new set of voices and new opportunities for young players. Kempe, Iafallo, Danault and Roy take enough ownership on a nightly basis to handle the load I think. Management has to be noticing a trend that games like this happen too often the last couple years and it doesnt leave a good impression on young players coming in.

Not really surprised at all with the outcome. All our mistakes ended up in our net, and my god there were tons. What sucked is the 0-4 on the pp against a team that is 58 pct on the kill over the 9 games. I cant really remember too many good chances except Kopitar going high and wide with an open shot and the one pp in the 2nd. 6-3 is a bit more respectable than I thought it would be.

I'm as down on this team as anyone, but holy crap there is some main board WJC level overreaction ridiculousness going on here. Doughty was bad tonight, no argument, but he has been very good this season, and last season as well. Perhaps we give it more than one game before we start saying he's mailed it in because of no Olympics?

Cant move DD or Kopi - pretty sure both have no movement contracts... but im sure they would waive for the right scenario -- the rebuild started to late for them to be a factor and they are actually more in the way at this point.

Kopitar has the opposite clause of Brown.
Brown has to give in a list with 10 teams to play for, Kopitar has to give in a list of 10 teams he is not willing to go to.
From 2023 on, Doughty has to give in a 7 teams list he is willing to go to

Yeah yeah, I get that things might be a little off, but stop selling the shaking off the rust narrative... These are professional athletes that have been playing this sport for practically their entire lives.

whoever is saying that needs to be drug tested immediately.

The Kings got flat outworked in all aspects of the game.

I dont give a f*** about Kopitar, Doughty, and Quick. Im just ready to transition into the new era and without those guys. I love and appreciate all theyve done but its time. Im tired of seeing their rotting carcass taking up space on the ice. If they're going to lose lets give ice to the people who are hungry for it. Kopitar looks like he's day dreaming about Slovenian women and Aspen all the time. Arviddson is ass and theres no convincing me of it otherwise. Danault is nothing special. A glorified Handzus. Doughty is looking stanky right now, but I'd give him a slide for now. Quick has been great.

That doesn't change the fact I want these guys gone, and to line up TMac in front of AEG firing squad along with Blake, Luc, Bernstein, and Jon Hoven(and his apologists).

I threw in Jon Hoven because he's annoying.

Burn it down. All of it. This cancer is killing the team, and is killing the kids.

Even a defense only center wouldn't prevent Doughty from passing right to the forward in front of the net.

This is true. Although he may have been able to hold onto his stick better than everyone else. I've never seen a game where so many guys lost their sticks, and a goal was scored right after.

I paid for this game so I'm going to overreact because I might as well have just walked the money up to Blake and asked him to spank me.

Re Doughty I even said it could just be covid but the stuff that was probably OFF screen on TV REALLY bothered me, dude just would NOT move his feet.

I'm also pretty sick of saying "it's just one game" over and over and over for different circumstances. Have a good roadie...then come home and absolutely shit the bed. Play well vs. a tough string of opponents...then no show vs. AZ. When the vets are out there literally passing away from the opposing net and handing easy goals to guys in front while soaking up all the playing time, ESPECIALLY on a night where most of the lineup WASNT vets, I'm gonna air it out.

It's not that we lost to VGK, who are one of the best teams in the league now and certainly going forward; it's how unprepared the team was and how they were expecting a loss from the start. I have literally never seen such bad coverage in front from a professional hockey team. Quite literally never.

This has been a problem for at least 5 years now.

Yeah was pretty telling when the Kings got a late power play with a chance to close the gap to two and couldn't even muster a shot on goal.

Going through the same motions they have for the last 10 years.

4 pp chances and only 1 pp generated any of the shots, pp 3 had all 5. This against a team coming in with a 58 pct kill over the last 9 games. It just sucked watching them not generate anything at all tonight. Vegas on the other hand was 2/4 .

I made the same observation as well... I have never seen such terrible coverage in front of the net. Like how does Todd have a job after that.

He was great last season. This season hes been good for the most part but tonight was a joke. I dont know the record with him in the lineup but they just might win more when hes out. Anyone have that stat?
Its not really overreaction when this has been happening for years now. Thats an unacceptable performance. Many of us are sick of spending time and money watching it. Im giving away my tickets for Thursday in disgust.
How bad do they have to play for it to be the last straw for you? Tonight was not the first time even this season. Wasted a night on that Toronto game that was over in the second period and a completely dead building.

Kaliev with a clear scoring chance and he's hooked all the way to the net.
This was the the kind of thing that drove me crazy at times tonight. Just flat out hooks like this one that weren't called. It happened 3 times over 2 shift. This is a textnook hook, his stick is so far into the midsection, its out the other end. The ref was in perfect position to call it too.

Doughty did just come off covid, dudes probably out there gasping for breath and sucking them in hard for the next few games

I'm not sure it the personal or the plans for it but something has got to change and has needed to for at least a decade. I wonder if there is a special team coach out there looking for a job cause i think ours need to be replaced.

Thirty something games in and this team is wildly inconsistent with its play. I believe statistically the Kings have an uphill battle to make the playoffs. I believe they have a 36-39% chance of making it.

If they go on a slide here, it’s pretty much over and Bluc will have some tough choices to make. This is NOT at all what we were all sold on years ago or even more recently with Blake talking up playoffs for this season.

Most likely scenario is management makes some trades (Blake hasn’t done too bad here) to open some spots for the kids and fires Todd. Todd is clearly the wrong choice for this club and overpaid. Best case scenario is AEG wakes up and cans everyone like they did with Dave Taylor/Murray.

I haven't seen such lifeless defense, such terrible coverage, such lifeless performance in such a long time. I've seen a lot of games. but not this lopsided. This team is absolute garbage. There needs to be a complete uprooting of management. This team is going absolutely nowhere fast.

Playing Andersen and Volanin plus Doughty was really horrible today.
It will do it.

I was waiting for TMc to try a different grouping on the powerplay after they had gone three powerplays without registering a single f'ing shot. Zero shots total on the night for Kopi. Remember earlier in the season when he was on pace for the most shots of his career? That's dropped off some. Play of the night was when he got the puck right in front of the net on a great pass and decided someone 10+ feet farther from the net was better qualified to score and passed it. He was a killer at the dot though. So he wasn't totally useless.

Man I don’t get this team, they had a good roadie against solid teams and lay a turd like tonight at home. I don’t get it, some guys looked like they mailed it in.
You can't expect the core guys to perform now. It's still only December, and the games might matter. You have to wait until mid-January or so when the Kings will really be out of it. Then the core guys will explode and their numbers will go up, so the stats don't look so bad at the end of the season.

Well, if you are going to pay for that at least get Blake's wife to spank you.

Honestly, I look for AEG to sell the Kings in the not too distant future. Nothing to back it up, just a feeling on my part. They were looking to sell a few years ago.
