Kings lost, and made a lot of mistakes, but showed more fight tonight than they did the past three seasons. Tough loss, bad defense in the second period, but overall not the worst game. Some guys just aren't there yet.

Not a bad effort.

Arty needs to go down and work on some things, I'd keep him on for a few more games though, let him try to sort through it.

The team needs a few more forecheckers, Lias will be one. Another tenacious winger would be nice, like Moore with more skill. I think that player could be Turcotte, but with all the injuries he'll be playing center for the time being in Ontario.

Probably been pretty hard for Doughty to drag whatever shitbrick he’s been paired with the last few years up and down the ice. I imagine that gets exhausting.

Not a good enough excuse when he’s being paid $11M, and I’m generally a Doughty apologist. Forbort was an anchor but Anderson isn’t a pylon even if he shouldn’t be on a top pairing.

Kopitar 1g 1a
Arvidsson 1g 0a
Doughty 0g 2a
Quick 0g 1a

There's your score sheet.
The scoresheet doesnt matter as much. Doughty didnt have such a good game and kopitar was great at times and bad at times.
Funny how folks came out in droves to lay into those that criticize vets like brown and when he was invisible like tonight theres nothing.

I missed the game so I got a limited view but Doughty and Kopitar didn't look very good on those goals against, but they didn't look very bad on those goals for either :P At least it was close. Hopefully they keep it up and bounce back! Onto the next game, GKG!

Send Arty to Ontario before his development is ruined. He needs the minutes and the game situation it comes with. We can lose with Grundstrom if necessary. Where's the genius around here defending Lizotte as a valuable piece of this team. Send him away already please.
i'm a bit worried about kaliyev too, there was just nothing doing tonight with that line

hopefully he can put together a few shifts in nashville and bring it back

Other than Tkachev, almost every other newcomer/youngster is laying a fat goose egg.

I’m not ringing any alarm bells. But we need just one of these kids to breakthrough this year. We have a lot bluechip prospects at the age where bluechips should be breaking through.

The wild are like Kryptonite to the Kings. at least they limited Kaprizov to an assist. Bad 2nd and poor coverage cost them 2. The 6 on 5 needs serious work. They played it like they've never done it before, couldn't handled the pressure and missed open guys that were there for a shot.

I agree. I am not deterred, as Danault alone has made this team better. It seemed Byfield was ready and was going to be the one to breakthrough.

Vilardi's line needs Lias back, badly. The 2 of them were working so well off of each other. Lizotte tries hard, but is not NHL calibre. I would rather have JAD as the 4th line center. The Kings needed Lias and Lemieux tonight. Kupari has speed and skill, but he never finds open ice...he actually skates towards opponents in the ozone and it's bewildering. He's a lot like Kempe, with even less sense. Hopefully, Kupari figures it out. Kempe is looking better and Iafallo is stepping up. Kopi still has it and is moving pretty well. Glad he shooting more, although his goal, was another pass that hit Dumba's skate. Arvidsson is doing fine and his goal will hopefully be the start of more going in.

Toby looks ok...but he is often not moving his feet and want to see him have a more aggressive approach. Like more of a force, instead of the passiveness. He's certainly a good player and forget he's 20 or 21.

Don’t understand why Lizotte is on the team and why the Kings didn’t call up Wagner.

Wagner-Lizotte-Wagner played well together in pre-season. But if the Kings want to play the kids then get rid of Lizotte and bring up JAD.

If Kopi, Brown and Arvidsson don't score not even sure who will. This team will have trouble scoring again this season and we're just gonna have to get use to it. Young Prospects are going to need time so not going to expect much from them, but if Vilardi, Kempe, Iaffallo don't pitch in man it's going to be another one of those years. Yikes.

You know who would have been a big help tonight? Lemieux.

It's concerning that Tkachev and Vilardi have zero shots on goal and that Lizotte has more shots than Doughty, Danault, and Kaliyev.

Kopitar, Arvidsson, and Brown are shot-producing machines with a combined 27 in two games.

Probably because he will be invisible a lot of more times with a 82 games schedule.

That pre season means squat for four decades already, so it was laughable to call out “the vets” based on that.

That is why.

I dont understand what you mean. Hes gonna be invisible a lot more times we both agree

Vilardi seems to lose all confidence without his regular line mates. He really needs Lias to come back, especially since he was a forchecking machine, just made so much space for Vilardi to get looks out there. He looks so rushed without him.

I am done with Lizotte as a King, he's a blackhole offensively and doesn't do anything impressive on defense either. This HAS to be his last year as a regular with JAD, Byfield and Kupari as better options for 4th line C.

Lemieux was noticeably missed last night, he does a lot of little things no one else will do on the team and constantly battles every shift, honestly when I heard Kupari was playing I was hoping for:
Moore - Kupari - Lemieux

Minnesota doesn't play the sexiest game but man it's effective, they make it hell breaking in to the offensive zone, didn't seem to matter which line they played they were all on the same page on defense, I missed count how many times we lost possession in their zone.

Kaliyev...I feel the value for him lies on the PP. he's got to get some quality looks there and he got none tonight. I don't think that 2nd PP unit ever got it set up.

I’m having a hard time reading Vilardi. 6 out of 10 times the puck goes the other way. But those 4 times that he controls the play, it’s an absolute beauty.
I’m thinking he’s a winger.

It's because they line up 3 across, usually in a 1-3-1 or a 0-3-2. The difference is they know how to play it well.
