TMac on Kaliyev:
(LA Kings Insider)

On the goal by Kaliyev and his development
He’s developing a full game. And he was really frustrated with himself missing the empty net. That’s in his wheelhouse, that’s in his prime spot, and he mis-shot it. But he didn’t let it rattle himself. You can see him maturing. We really appreciate all the little things that Arty is doing right now. When you compare him in his one game last year against Anaheim to his 15-20 games that he’s played this year, it’s significantly different. Just defending, the confidence to play in certain situations, using his body…he’s going to score, he’s going to shoot the puck, he’s going play on the power play, we’re trying to train him for the full 20 minutes that he could eventually end up playing and he’s getting it.

I like this quote and this direction
At least based on my scientific eye-test Kaliyev IS getting better at playing a "full game" game by game. Early on he seemed to have a lot of turn-overs and was a non-factor on the boards. It really does look like he's getting better at it gradually. Learning the ropes and tricks with a couple of tenacious guys like Lizotte and Lemieux can only be good for him.

What? I'm presuming Durzi has like two games left, tops

Doughty - Anderson
Clague - Roy
Edler - Durzi

I guess you could sit Anderson or Clague instead, no big deal. I know I'd like to see Toby/Doughty too. These are certainly harder and better decisions to have to make rather than who gets to wear the Maatta shackles.

I was surprised to see the Brown Grundstrom swap on Saturday. Thought Brown looked really good in the first, best all year. he looked like ass in the second but a lot of the team did.

I am all for shuffling lines, but I think when you do so before the game you need to ride them a little bit as it takes some time.

Silver lining to so many days off is Doty has more time to heal and be out for fewer games. Sure a compressed schedule later would cause fatigue, but having a fatigued Doty is better than no Doty.

Anyone want to take a guess what the defence looks like when Doughty comes back?

I think Durzi goes back to Ontario. My speculation is they brought him up when they did because they saw that Doughty was nearing a return and the window for getting a look at some other prospects on D was closing. My other speculation is that Clague has shown well enough to keep the 6/7 slot and he's not going back down again.

you are probably correct

This is what I want to hear from TM. I've criticized him a lot how he's using Artie and a few other things too but this should give RJ, KingsPawn and myself a few less gray hair.

Eh, sorry, but not really.

I've never questioned the ability to develop a 200-foot game. I've questioned the ability to bring out the best offensive talents.

This just reinforces what we know.

Normally they would send down durzi but hes helped the powerplay. It looked better the last 2 games than it has the last 2 years. Cant send him down until that dries up or other teams start adjusting to him on the point. Keep Clague as #7 instead of Maatta

PP with Durzi has looked better than at any point since hot start to begin last season.

Watch 'em send Kupari down and go with 8 d.

Kupri does not require waivers (I don't think) and I would rather him be playing in the AHL than sitting in the press box. So not fully opposed to sending Kupari down. With Lemieux suspension coming I think LA need extra forwards over D right now.

I am not part of the Maatta hate club, but I can't see them deciding to go with Durzi and Clague in those 6 and 7 spots without veteran cover for the rest of the year. This management group favors security blankets, even tired old ones filled with holes.

Hell, it might even be better management to go with 7 defensemen and use Durzi only in specific situations while Lemieux is out.
