On October 10, I asked this.

"Whoever IS MOST RESPONSIBLE for signing Tkachev: I love you. Go find another one of him. Can he be a #1 LHD? All the better."

On October 13, the answer was revealed:
"""""Speaking with Blake, he credited Christian Ruuttu, head of pro scouting for the Kings in Europe, as tracking Tkachev with his team overseas. As a part of the process of scouting potential free agents in Europe, the Kings cast a wide net, with a longer list of players throughout the season, with certain players, Tkachev included, becoming an eventual target and acquisition.
“It’s been a couple of years in the process,” Blake said. “Establishing a relationship with him over there, and his agent, understanding his contract, his duties with the KHL. Then, you follow the progress, you have your reports from your pro scouts, you continue and when the time comes that he would be available to come over here, that’s when the push came this summer.”""""

I love Christian Ruuttu. Now, go unearth an uber talented LHD that can be signed. Preferably under 25 and over 6 feet and 200 lbs...can play #1 PP and play in all situations. A bonus if he can speak English, but not required.
Thank you.

Well hope you make your sweeping positive judgments on 'one play' highlight reels too. Gonna be a lot of cooking if so.
There aren't any other highlights of him during preseason except for his secondary assist on the power play, and frankly I can't think of anything during the preseason that has impressed me in any way about Danault.

Good advanced stats resulting in few goals. Sounds like the same Kings. Where have you gone, Nick Shore? Game 1, here we go!

It's funny because I feel like you're usually incredibly open minded...so I'm curious how it's going to look when you have to walk this way the f*** back.

The plot twist I guess is that Danault is rarely going to be visually 'impressive' and you're already mocking a guy driving play so...

Ruuttu seems to have upped his influence over the last few years. A good fraction of the Kings are young players from Europe, with more in the pipeline. Lias Andersson was a good find, and obviously Bjornfot will be a big piece of the puzzle in the near future. We'll see if Helge Grans works out.

Get Nousiainen some roids and let's call it a day!

The great thing about an internet message board is that:
1. I don't have to walk anything back, and
2. I don't have to give a shit about how that looks.

Like I said, I hope he proves me wrong and scores like a million points. I'm cheering for him. Based on his previous performance and his preseason, I'm not holding my breath.

Geezus, you must be the life of the party. If you know anything about Danault (which it's kinda clear you don't) the dude is getting paid more for NOT having highlights if you understand what that means.

Boring team, playing boring hockey. Same old Kings.

It also happens to be the worst thing about a message board.

Digging your heels in on this one.

So here's a funny blast from the past. I got a photo notification of photos taken today on my phone and for some reason, 5 years ago today I took a photo of my TV which happened to show the Kings lines for the game that day on FSW back in 2016.

Dwight King - Kopi - Toffoli
Teddy Purcell - Carter - Lewis
Clifford - Shore - Brown
Nolan - Andreoff - Setoguchi

Holy crap that team sucked.

And only Kopitar and Brown left of that group. Probably from the rest only Doughty & Quick. Time flies.

This is like highlighting the F on your report card before handing it to your parents.

That's such a brutal roster. King, Purcell, and Lewis in the top six. Sheesh. Nick Shore as the third line center. That's damn near unwatchable. Here's the defense by time-on-ice in game one versus the Sharks:

Doughty
Muzzin
Martinez
McNabb
Forbort
Greene

Game one of 2016 was also when Quick got hurt, so Jeff Zatkoff played 40 minutes. Yikes.

You can get tickets to tonight's game for 30 bucks.

When's the last time it was that cheap for a home opener?

I think line 3 is about the change that...and be more like line 1. Vilardi has really stepped up and better physically and skating better. Tkachev raises the exciting hockey bar, more than any King since Palffy. Kaliyev will be putting pucks in the net often. Then, when Byfield is playing by December, that will be anything but boring. Next year, Clarke may burst onto the scene. Changes the dynamic from the back end.

guess i'm not all that surprised, especially given no byfield but yeah...

was thinking to myself i might try and catch a few games in ontario this season but kings games might be cheaper at this point

Pearson and Gaborik make it a little better. You did get the snapshot on like the worst possible day it seems.

First year of Kopitar's retirement contract. Lecavalier had to go. Couldn't keep Lucic. Didn't bother with Versteeg. That's why DL went "all in" for 15-16. He knew that was going to be last chance for a while. And if not for one truly league wide MVP level performance from Kopitar a year later, it was.
