when does a highly drafted HB win a Super Bowl?

With the team that drafted the player. Not that they left and went somewhere else either.

Hell, Damien Williams ran like wild in the Super Bowl last season and he was undrafted. Phillip Lindsay won OROY as an undrafted player. Look at your fantasy drafts and you'll find outside of Barkley, Zeke, and CMC that they RBs you are taking are not top 10 picks. Not to mention that the rate of change of top RBs is insanely high.

Three years ago, these were the top rated fantasy RBs: David Johnson, Le'Veon Bell, Zeke, LeSean McCoy, Devonta Freeman, Melvin Gordon, Jordan Howard, Demarco Murray, Jay Ajayi, Todd Gurley.

Tell me how many of these guys are still productive today OR are on a different team. The only guy still on his team is Zeke. Everyone else moved on. If you are taking a RB very high in the draft, you better have been building something for years that is ready to contend the next season or the one after that. Otherwise, you're going to waste that players best years.

and Kyle Shanahan had a running back by committee

Kyle Shanahan gave away two Super Bowls by refusing to run the football when he should have, that's the point I was trying to make.

I don't think there is only one way to win in the NFL, and having a generational running back would be a great way to combat defenses that are built to stop a certain style of offense. Saquon just hasn't been that yet, if he'll ever be.

And @JimmyG89 you could speculate about Darnold being better in a different situation, but it's just speculation... I'll take Daniel Jones over over Darnold every time right now.

There isn’t a single human who has ever lived on this earth who would have produced last night playing running back for the giants
There are hot takes and then there's this.

Otis Anderson was a top 10 pick, who landed on the Giants at th tail end of his career. He was still a good player.

Right, you're MMQB'ing it. I think most people realize they would take Jones at this moment, after how both performed this past weekend.

You cannot argue that at the time picked, Jones was KILLED as a reach and Darnold was the best QB falling to the Jets. Hell, people said that they could get Jones with #17 instead. People wanted Haskins over Jones. I do not remember must dissent from Jets fans clamoring for anyone but Darnold and fearing that the Browns and Giants would take him and the Jets would miss out.

It's hard for a QB to actually develop when he doesn't have guys getting open and has a coach that has had zero offensive success away from the best passing QB in the history of the league (Manning is the best passing QB I've ever seen). Now on Sunday, there were guys open and he missed. It was a bad game. Let's see if he can rebound against San Fran.

How about the entirety of last season... I would have taken Jones over Darnold without question 9 months ago as well.

please don’t embarrass yourself. Otis Anderson won nothing with the Cardinals and signed on as a backup with the Giants. He had a ceremonious TD to close out 87 Super Bowl with the game over in a season he gain 81 yards. He gained a measly 214 yards over the next two seasons. Each year he signed on as FA b/c nobody would take him. Behind a mammoth OL and due to Hampton going down in 90, he walked behind an OL to the tune of 1800 yards total over two seasons. Each year being paid peanuts.

Mims to IR this week. Not available until week 5. Bell to the IR as well.

This is what Darnold has to work with. I'm praying they can win a game before the bye.

meanwhile, one of many scapegoats, Ben McAdoo requested the Giants trade up from the early 20’s for Pat Mahomes. Instead, the Chiefs traded up from farther back.

when does the Generational HB win anything?

OK, you win. I would take Mahomes over Jones.

He would have just thrown it left handed on that goal line INT.

The "hot take" comment wasn't directed at you. Anderson had a 1,000 yard season for the Giants. He may have been a 3 yards and a cloud of dust player at the end of his career but he was still effective in short yardage.

How is that a hot take lmao that’s the coldest take ever you just seem utterly delusional

I'd pay him. Giants need a big receiver like him. Just trade next year's 2nd rounder for him. Not like Gettleman will use the pick wisely anyway.

What makes anybody think a guy who demands a trade can be happy anywhere?

This seems like a perfect candidate for the Jets to make a trade. He's a legit #1. You have to gameplan for him. Could open things for Crowder, Herndon, and the running game. He's not necessarily a guy to double, but it's a weapon they don't have at the moment. If the Bears really need to move him, Douglas should be on the phone with them. Would not balk at the price either, unless they are asking for something crazy.
