Worth mentioning that McKenzie says the consensus among his scouts is that Perfetti is a winger in the NHL.

McKenzie's Pre-season Rankings....
From that realistic view of where the Rangers will end up picking, both Lundell and Holloway make sense and seem to be the type of players that Gorton and Quinn would look at. I still like Mysak a good deal. Mid first round, Schnieder is someone I like but the Rangers cupboard is full of defensemen. Would say Lapperire, but they tend not to dip into the Q

Byfield on an early tear. 9 points in the first 4 games.

A lot of good starts to the season along with Byfield!!

Lundell has 3 and 1 in 5 games with HIFK. Stutzle has 1 and 3 in 5 games with Adler. Jaromir Pytlik has been red hot with 2 and 5 for 7 points in 3 games for the Greyhounds!! Drysdale has 1 and 4 in 4 games with Erie!! Justin Sourdif with a good start, as well; 2 and 3 for 5 in 3 games with Vancouver. Stranges, surprisingly, has 3 and 1 in 3 games. Rossi has 2 and 2 in 2 games with the 67's. Holtz has 2 and 1 in 5 games for Djurgardens. And don't forget Lafreniere who has 1 and 4 in 3 games with Rimouski!!

Some moderate starts with Askarov, Perfetti, Jarvis, Bourque, Lapierre, Gunler, Simontaival and Zary. I'll expect they rise as the season goes on.

Some slow starts for Barron, Perreault, Raymond (expect this to get better), Schneider and Smilanic.

Helge Grans is also on the rise to look into as a draft option. Still too early, but a great start to his SuperElit season. Could earn a callup to the SHL's Malmo soon.

I definitely wouldn’t call Zion Nybecks start moderate, he’s been tearing SuperElit to shreds, at 6+7 in 7 games... Emil Andrae also off to a hot start.

I don't agree on Gunler either haha, he's doing great with limited TOI.

It's a slow start, there's no denying that. I was expecting him to have a bigger role with Lulea. But, I mean, he is still in the SHL so that's a success in the draft year either way. We'll see if he can find some luck.

I saw his stats too, but every time I’ve seen Luleå play Gunler has had a breakaway or a great scoring chance or whatever. He is definitely getting chances, but the SHL is a low scoring league and if you get a little snake bitten and don’t have a goto role on a PP, pts will be sparse.

I would be surprised if some of the USNDP kids didn’t rose a lot during the season. It’s always like when there is a big void after a great generation, you think the drop off is going to be big, but that some of those kids have been pushed back too. I don’t know, I’ve just experienced many times with Sweden and Finland. Kotkaniemi is a perfect example. The Finns had two top guy in Laine and Pulju and the year after they where going to have nothing, still Kotkaniemi goes 3rd. If you are doing something right enough to develop the top guys for a few years, it’s just not likely that ‘nothing’ will come one year.

I have a hard time pinning down Gunler as a prospect, think he is a bit too much of a scorer of the rush for me. I think Holtz will be rejuvenated a bit as a prospect. He isn’t the second coming, but he is good at what he is good at. Raymond should go high.

I think this draft is a true test for the CHL program, and to be perfectly honest — I don’t think we have any reason to believe that it will pass that test. Sure Laf and Byfield can become great, Canada will always produce great players. But if this really is going to be a great draft, I think it could take a bit more of a push than what we expected 6 months ago...

Naa, I'm not even talking points and breakaways. Just thought he'd be a little more explosive in leading Lulea's offense. He's getting reps at the top PP unit, too, so I mean he's bound to have some puck luck soon. Just think it's a slow start offensively.

I could see our scouts falling in love with Jan Mysak. If our scouts have shown anything, it's how much they value prospects who play against men.

Interestingly also, the biggest organizational need is at C and there seems to be quite a few promising F prospects in the QMJHL, which is the league we seem to draft from the least (no proof of that. Just my estimation from watching Gordie Clark and Co. over the years). Lafreniere, Lapierre, Bourque, Rochette...

So want him on the Rangers. Much more than Lafreniere.

Byfield is probably my favorite prospect in this draft thus far. I have him ranked second, but man this is a kid who has so much upside and would be a perfect fit for this roster.

Once he crosses over into the offensive zone, he's like an unstoppable force. The skating is tight and enables him to pivot with ease. The hands are soft and capable of getting a puck past the goalie or putting a pass right on the tape of a teammate. The vision is very good and he knows where he has to be, seemingly at all times.

Mysak is one fr whom I have been beating the drum for, albiet softly. He seems to have the type of game that Gorton and Quinn like.
