not sure they will be around in the 3rd when we pick again since we don't have any 2nds but any thoughts on:

Luke Tuch
Will Cuylle
Dylan Peterson
Daniel Torgersson

I think Torgersson and Cuylle will be gone for sure. I'd easily take either in the 2nd if we had a pick. These are big guys who skate well and have projectable games.

I seriously doubt Luke Tuch will be nearly as good as his brother Alex. He could go anywhere from late 2nd to somewhere into the 5th. Peterson I see as someone in the second half of the 3rd to early 4th. Excellent size, really good skating, very good tools but underwhelming results so far.

Luke Tuch - Reminds me a lot of Howden. Not as good as his brother. Goes in 3rd round.

Will Cuylle - One of the most physical forwards in the draft. High floor, low ceiling. Good pick for a team lacking toughness in their prospect pool. Goes in late 2nd round.

Dylan Peterson - Big center who hasn’t quite put it together. Shows flashes of skill but not consistent. Needs to work on skating. Goes in 4th round.

Daniel Torgersson - One of the best shots in the draft and a good north south skater. Lots of upside but most of his game needs work. Big time riser at the end of last year. Goes in early 2nd round.

This is pretty on target to what I understand. I will say the Black Book likes Peterson's skating quite a lot. They're mystified that with all this tools he hasn't made more out of them--that the toolbox might be what's lacking. To me he sounds like a bottom 6 big bodied guy who will playing physically and skates pretty well. I wouldn't mind that pick at all as a late 3rd or 4th. Slightly higher upside than Tuch IMO.

Torgersson and Emil Heineman are the two Swedish forwards I like after the big three of Raymond, Holtz and Gunler. Heineman's more physical than Torgersson. I get a bit of a Patric Hornqvist vibe. They're both big guys though who skate well. He's another 2nd rounder I think.

Lapierre and Mercer playing on the same line are off to reaaaaally good preseason starts.
If Lapierre plays like this leading up to the draft someone is gonna take a “chance” on him. If Montreal needed centers I could have seen him going 16th overall.
We all know how good Mercer is and he should be a top 15 pick easy. We need someone to pick him top 17 so the devils can’t get him

I expect both to go in the teens.

In fact, Lapierre seems like an easy 16th overall pick for Montreal.

The Draftsim site got updated this morning to allow the use of McKenzie's rankings Did a mock, this is what I got.

I did a small trade and traded 22 to Washington for 25, 79 and 179

1. Lafreienere
25. Greig
71. Powell
79. Neiderbach
90. Biondi
102. Blomqvist
133. Knazko
164. Slukynsky
179. Langenbrunner
195. Tarnstrom
196. Kunz
205. Nordlund

I'll be honest I only took Greig because he was there and he's been discussed a lot the last couple days

there might be better players on the board if guys drop if we don't move up or trade the pick...but i've been looking at Greig alot since @Edge mentioned him and I know some people will look at his weight and freak out but I really like what i'm reading/seeing. i'm fully on this bandwagon.

I think Greig is going to get serious consideration for the 22nd pick. Unlike some guys who we hope "fall" to us, or require a move-up trade, Greig is probably going to be on the board at 22.

I have him in the 30s because I question whether he sticks at center, and I am not totally sure about the offensive upside compared to his peers. However, the fact that McKenzie has him at 24 is very interesting to me. That typically means one of, or a combination of, a few things:

1. Multiple teams probably have him higher than most outside observers.

2. One team has him fairly high and it's helping his average.

3. One team specifically told Bob "this is probably our guy if he's there with our pick."

Lapierre is gonna play his way out of the 22 range for us, isn't he?

I've always felt Lapierre was a kid who could go in the mid-teens or be sitting there in the mid-20s.

The skill is what it is, and the results are fun to see. But the injuries are no less of a concern than they were a month ago.

Push comes to shove my stance has always been that someone is pretty likely to take a chance on him before our pick --- especially teams with capital to spread around.

I'm assuming he's not going top 10 Looking at teams picking before us I'm not sure how many teams are gonna risk picking Lapierre. Most teams picking before us really can't take a risk on a guy with some injury history. Gonna be really interesting come october 6th.
I agree a team with draft capital (like montreal and Ottawa) could take a chance on him but Montreal doesn't need a center and Ottawa picks well after us with their Islander pick.
Not saying we should take him at 22 but maybe if an ottawa or anaheim really loves him maybe we trade down and grab a second rounder as well?

I am curious if he is a top candidate for them.

I can't say I came away with that impression for him after this weekend. But the talent is certainly there.
Would you be ok if the Rangers come away with Bourque if he was there at 22? Seems like his name is really starting to surface with teams picking in the mid to high teens and low 20's.

I would have no problem with it whatsoever.

Bourque is arguably one of the top offensive talents in this draft. His natural ability and vision ranks up there with pretty much anyone at the top of the draft.

The effort is a bit of a question mark. There are nights you have to check and see if he even dressed. Frankly, with his skill level, that should never be the case. I also wonder if he sticks at center. IMO, his long-term value is significantly higher if he can stick at center.

i wish the draft sim would let you trade players for picks cause i'm struggling to add 2nd round picks to get guys I like without also missing out on the guys i like at 22 lol

I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but Khusnutdinov remains my hope at 22.

I don't think we're taking him tbh.

It's fine because there are a ton of really good players who will be there in that area, but man it'd be nice to have a 2nd in this draft. There are a few guys I really like who will be taken in that range (Kush, Weisblatt, Cuylle, Niederbach, etc.)

So. who do you like better, Bourque or Perrault?
