I can't remember the last prospect that was brought up as frequently as Newhook
Yeah, I think the unique factor is that basically up until now guys who had that skill set as well as having a game without any restraints was pretty rare and they had not failed at all in the NHL. Like Point, Barzal and co. Tyson Jost is maybe border line, but I don't know how skilled that kid really was as a junior. I have never been a fan.
Junior hockey is adopting to the new conditions just like pro hockey. Evolving. We are seeing more and more guys like this come up and they are sought after. I think its a bit of a challenge to draw up the parameters for just how good you must be to be successful, find bench-marks for all environments and so forth.
I love Newhook, but I would never say that I am fully confident that he will become a big star. I would just rather bet on him than many others. And I think that makes him such a tease, is he a top 5 talent or someone who will have a much more marginal impact? Wing or center?
