Prospect Info: [2020 - 47th ] Luke Tuch (NCAA - Boston University)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

It’s clear HuGo will view this year as a failure if the team isn’t playing for a playoff spot into April - I don’t see them derailing team chemistry for the sake of draft picks if the team is in a position to compete for a playoff spot at deadline
Nope. That's stretching it.
The hype this year has been blown out of proportion people have us running when we haven't even shown we can walk yet.
First things first let's get out of the pre-season and see what our team looks like.
Then we need to look at the first 10-15 games to determine if we can hold our own on special teams.
If that goes well and we aren't bleeding goals and giving up zone time then expectations can start to rise.
We will have to beat teams in our division starting with Ottawa who now have us at 9 straight on the wrong side.

There’s more lessons to learn hence more losing, but, we’re getting into one step back two steps forward territory.

I wonder what his fighting skills are like, he wouldn't have fought much in NCAA, but if he has that dimension to his game you have to think he's coming for Pezzetta's spot soon.

Big shout for Luke Tuch, he's not too far from the NHL...and looks like one of those guys that when he's recalled, he's going to stick for good.
Yeah, he's been my revelation in camp, I was not expexting him to look THAT good. He's been really solid in his own zone, his speed is good also for a guy his size and his puck protection is really impressive.

I agree with you, at some point this season, he's gonna get the call and never return to the AHL.

He'll be on the team next year if everything goes smooth in Laval this year imo. He has the attributes we need in the bottom six.

Pezzetta is marginal, Dvorak should be traded. Beck is not ready. Neither is Tuch.

However, Evans is not deadwood. Neither is Armia. Gallagher scored 16 goals last year. Anderson looks motivated.
Agreed on everything except Anderson.

Not sure how to read. Sounds like he wants a better season, but doesn't seem to show it, so hopefully that's just "it's pre-season"

I thought it was funny that both the TSN play by play and Michel Lacroix credited Josh Roy with Tuch's play on Dach's goal.

Man I thought I was imagining things there, I swore I saw Tuch make the pass but even the little goal scoring announcement graphic on the screen said Roy.

Our bottom six has been littered with with so many veterans on multi-year multi-million dollar contracts who give inconsistent efforts.

Luckily we are starting to see some guys like Tuch, Kapanen, Heineman etc making names for themselves at camp and showing they are ready or close to it to play in the NHL. We could use more energy in our bottom six and these young guys are playing for their futures and showing they care as opposed to guys like Dvorak, Armia and Anderson who have got their big money contracts and show up when they feel like it.

I think he's good enough to stick around and take a spot

Really like this kid, and I feel like he’s done more than enough to stay with the club for a few games to start off the year. He’s got size, he’s got decent hands too, and I find him to be a player that understands what his strengths are and plays within them. Keep him up over the smaller soft guys.

I think he'll be among the first call ups, but the Habs are taking advantage of letting him cook in the AHL while they clear a spot in the bottom6 for him. Whether its injury or trade, I can see Tuch playing games in MTL this year.

I don't expect high production from him, but he's got just enough skill that he could be that 15-20G guy like Weise was in his best years, while being much more physical than Dutch Gretzky.

The struble comparison people are making is solid. College kids come physically mature and ready to be real Pros. Tuch was a good pick IMO

I completely agree.

The Canadiens need to prove through their play this season that they have really turned a corner before we start getting hyped about any possible/hypothetical playoffs berth.

And for that, we'll need to stop hemorraging losses left and right to Boston, Ottawa, Florida, and other Atlantic teams like we've systematically done in the last three years.

Accessorily, I hope Luke Tuch has a great start to his AHL career and makes our team somewhere down the line.

I've liked a lot of what he's shown this preseason and late last season when he came in from Boston University, but he's clearly not ready and should polish his reads and just get used to the speed of the pro game before we talk about any kind of spot for him in the NHL.
