team was discernibly tougher to play against on the boards this game, probably only brought up because garland asked for it but that's how this team needs to play

crosscheck some guys on the boards, make the ref tell you you're crossing the line, don't guess

Nice win, but man they need to have a better pressure/retrieval system on defending, especially on shorthanded situations. Too many times lately one line is out there for like the entire time trapped in their zone because they can't get a clear, whistle, etc.

The defense is a mess, I hate whatever Yawney has done.

His penalty kill is top 5. The defense has two rookies and two second year guys. I think Yawney has done a terrific job. Seems to me the biggest defensive problem has been with forwards blowing their assignments.
