Is there any point that AEG makes an executive decision and just ends this.

I know the situations are a bit different but in year 4 of the DL rebuild the Kings had their unquestioned #1 center, goalie and defenseman of the present and future and they made the playoffs and gave a pretty good Vancouver team a scare in round 1. I know Dean inherited two of those and Blake was left with a disaster of a pipeline, but DL also made some trades that set the Kings up to take the next step. Blake just seems to want to accumulate as many picks as he can without any idea of the process of building and growing those picks.

The Kings division might be pretty weak next season, but unless something really major happens this offseason or someone like Byfield plays way above expectation this team is probably a playoff longshot again.

Next year is year 5 for Blake, will that be it, will Blake and Luc be gone if next years team misses the playoffs? Rebuilds do not take this long and there should be more signs of coming out of it.

Perhaps the upcoming expansion draft is stopping some trades, it must muddy the waters to some extent.

18 goals just from 2017, get your numbers straight if you are going to talk #s.

Between ANA and LA difference is 12 goals....but regardless, I'm bored, so let's go through the NHL.

ANA - 5 players - 33 goals
BOS - 3 players - 1 goal
BUF - 6 players - 50 goals
CGY - 1 player - 3 goals
CAR - 4 players - 93 goals
CHI - 6 players - 35 goals
COL - 4 players - 20 goals
CBS - 5 players - 21 goals
DAL - 5 players - 45 goals
DET - 4 players - 25 goals
EDM - 4 players - 20 goals
FLA - 4 players - 9 goals
LA - 7 players - 20 goals
MIN - 0 players - 0 goals
MTL - 6 players - 29 goals
NSH - 2 players - 12 goals
NJ - 8 players - 100 goals
NYI - 3 players - 16 goals
NYR - 8 players - 73 goals
OTT - 6 players - 95 goals
PHI - 5 players - 60 goals
PHX - 6 players - 4 goals
PIT - 1 player - 0 goals
SJ - 5 players - 21 goals
STL - 2 players - 23 goals
TB - 3 players - 9 goals
TOR - 3 players - 1 goal
VAN - 5 players - 85 goals
VGS - 4 players - 42 goals
WSH - 2 players - 0 goals
WPG - 3 players - 3 goals

Tell me again those dozen teams etc?

I don't know where you're getting your numbers. The 16 goals I referenced were those players that Blake drafted. Andersson would not be on that list. But even taking your numbers at face value, there are 18 teams that have matched or exceeded LA. Maybe you can spin that as successful but I sure can't.

Edit: And BTW, my numbers were only for the 20-21 season.

From Hockey DB....didn't include Lias Andersson on there....and it didn't include trades like VGS Suzuki getting most if not all of his goals in Montreal....

And no, there are not 18 teams that matched or exceeded, that's just your bias against Blake coming into play,

This doesn't take into account undrafted UFA's either like Iafallo...who alone is good for 52 goals

I think 1 thing no one is taking into account is that Blake needs to have players and prospects that others want in order to make these big splashy trades. We had guys like Clague, Kempe and old vets. Nothing to land us a top young stud.

he did well selling of our vets to get picks and prospects, but he needed time for those prospects to blossom to where they are closer to NHL ready. Think of it as a farmer, buying a calf, spending the time feeding and fattening that calf, and when it’s time taking that calf to market where others will now want it.

we now have the prospects that other teams may consider in trade packages. Now is Blake’s time to move. It will hurt our prospect depth and knock us into mid pack for prospect rankings but NHL games are not won by having the best prospect rankings in the Hockey News, Athletic etc.

Actually, I think NEXT summer is the year to move, I think they need to evaluate what they have this year in Turcotte, Thomas, Fagemo, Kaliyev, Kupari, etc etc.....decide who they want to keep and then try and move ones they don't, for a Richards type deal.....If they think it's gonna be Byfield, Turcotte, Kopitar etc, you move Kupari in a deal, etc.

We don't have a Jani Hakanpää and a 2022 sixth-round draft pick for Hayden Fluery? Did anyone think after the William's trade he would of turned out to be a huge piece for us at the time? It's not about the big splashy trade, we need many pieces. It's about making the right moves at the right time to keep moving forward. DL had the pulse of the team he was building, I don't get that feeling with Blake at all. I see him more of a sit on his hands, wait for the prospects, and sell the vets type of guy. I am afraid of a knee jerk reaction he will have and sell pieces too early for a quick fix because he depleted too many assets with term left wihout replacement pieces.

I guess a guy like Fluery just doesn’t move the needle for me.

I am looking for a unicorn like Sergachev, Werenski, Chychrun type.

We have guys in the system that can produce just as good or if not more points than a guy like Fluery. He has size, is a decent defender, but we need somebody that can help Drew run the power play and play 22 to 24 minutes a night

It will be interesting to see what they do this summer. I don't think AEG will be willing to spend much money, but I could be wrong.

Attendance is probably going to be the worst it's been since the mid 90's.

We need alot more that a #1 LD though. And if getting one depletes the prospect pool then that creates even more holes. Safer to sign Hamilton that can reduce Doughty's load (minutes + PP) and trade Walker + for a decent young top 4 LD. We have to start using that cap space to improve this team.

I have thought of Hamilton as well. While he is not a defensive genius he gets by while providing much needed size, scoring ability and minutes. Leaves our third pairing right guy with 10 to 12 mins a night.

Would this make both Roy and Walker expendable? Roy would we great in a package for a LH D.

right side - Doughty, Hamilton, Strand

left - Trade , Anderson, Bjornfot.
