The Kings need a #1LHD...and a #2C....but the Kings need to find another Trevor Moore. Whatever line he's on, is often the best line of the night. So Blake, while addressing the bigger needs, find another gem like Moore; a good young player with some jam, speed and decent skill - that is not quite breaking through for his current team. Great pickup in the Campbell / Clifford deal.
Moore is looking like a slightly better version of Iafallo many nights.

I think this is what Turcotte's going to be but just a legit top six version.

After reading this entire thread, I'm gonna go ahead and print it out and show it to my therapist. I'd ask her to find all the instances of some kind of psychosis, but I only see her weekly and she probably wouldn't have time.

Don't worry, I'll redact your screen names. Just in case you folks use them on other message boards about Antifa, Q, or Sesame Street Official.

Loved seeing those jerseys two games in a row, wish we could see the Black version in action

I think the Kings need a 1st line center.

I don't think Kopitar can hold down all the duties they're asking of him anymore. He's a great 2nd line center though.

or bring in a second line center to help take the burden of Kopitar. Hopefully one of the pups step up in a big way next year

I've been saying that forever.

For example tonight he burned up 3:19 of ice time on the PK. That's a waste.

The Kings are one of the absolute dumbest teams in the NHL when it comes to efficient player utilization.

I just don't see him being effective playing 21:30 per night anymore if that includes killing all the penalties and starting his shifts in the d-zone.

I know he didn’t play a ton, but this was a perfect game for Lemieux to make a big or try and fight someone. Like help wake up the team that was sleep walking through most of the game. I still don’t see a lot of sandpaper and dirt from him yet.

Couldn't really replace Richards, although Carter slid over. Never replaced Fraser in terms of the kind of player he was. Never replaced Stoll. Couldn't replace Carter once that injury happened.

You look at d-zone faceoffs taken, Kopitar would take the top 5 spots on the team since 08-09, with this season projected over 82 games. And that's Kopitar in 15-16, 16-17, 17-18, 18-19, and 20-21. In 19-20 he falls 9th right now. Basically all the years where there hasn't been another C to take on any heavy tasks. Currently 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th on the list are Handzus and Stoll between 10-11 and 13-14.

Center depth, defensive depth, all eroded since June 2014. Richards breaking down was the first step, then Mitchell, then Voynov, and it never stopped.

How was he last night? I didn't watch much...

He played well. He didn't have as many close looks as game 1, but he didn't look out of place.

Athanasiou had a rough game and was more ofvan anchor.

He set up Kempe beautifully, and instead of taking a shot, he went for a pass.

i think byfield benefitted from having moore on monday, moore got moved to vilardi's wing last night and vilardi had a better game

not a slight on byfield though, i thought he played well and we're kinda seeing the tools he's claimed to have. i don't think he's making a difference this season but this is a great cup of tea for him and a few months of NHL strength and conditioning this offseason should be great for him. he still looks like he's learning to handle that big body

Or maybe he needs at least 1 real 1st line winger for support? Very few men can carry a full offensive load like he has been asked to for the past couple of years.

iafallo's a real winger as much as i hate to admit it, he's been incredible this season. brown is just an absolute possession black hole to that line but (i think) tmac is just keeping them together to develop some kind of cohesion amongst the kids in the bottom 9

i imagine brown gets moved up and down the lineup more next season

Its opinion obviously. I think Alex is a great 2nd line winger. He currently has 26 points which ranks him outside of the top 100 points producers in the NHL. Alec Martinez has 27 points. We all know Alec Martinez isn't a offensive juggernaut. I would think that a top line winger playing with Kopitar should be easily outscoring Alec. Though props to both players as they have more points than Malkin!

I always get annoyed when people say Kopitar needs a winger. What he needs is another center.

Asking your soon to be 34 year old center to be your number 1 defensive forward, number 1 PK forward and number 1 offensive forward all at the same time is dumb.

A center that could take PK time, d-zone draws and matchups away from his work load would benefit him more than a winger.

We are going to need some new players on this roster next year to upgrade our D and top 6. I don't think we'll have the prospects ready to fill those roles on a 82 game schedule yet.
