I was far more concerned that JAD stopped skating, he looks around and was coasting back. That dude is a speedster, when you can't catch Vilardi who was flat-footed, that says a lot about the effort there. One of those rookie things you learn from, I guess. If he puts on the burners right when he realized the puck was gone he would have easily caught Stone.
