Yep, the issue with the team right now is we don't have anyone to play with Provorov.
Provorov pre-Ghost
37.10 CF% (-10.00 rel)
40.57 xGF% (-2.98 rel)
Provorov with Ghost
47.06 CF% (+7.57 rel)
60.05 xGF% (+18.34 rel)
Yeah, we have nobody who fits. Nice one COC.
If we keep saying we need a partner for Ghost, it makes other teams think Ghost can't be that guy. Which in turn means no one takes him in the expansion draft and we get to keep him.
A Ghost-Ghost pairing does sound pretty dicey, I must say.
Yeah, his play so far has been encouraging. He hasn't looked out of place on the top pair.Ghost has only played a couple of games. However in them he has shown better play than he had in a while. He may have lost a step but he seems to be playing angles better than he has in the past. Some of this may be experience and some of it may be that he realizes that if he wants to stay here, there are things that he has to do. Most of all utilize his partner and play within the system. If he will do that, a lot of the team’s problems go away on the back end.
He may have been his own worst enemy. When he came here out of college, Ed Snider started off with the “Gots to be here” stuff. He was seen as the salvation of the blue line.Yeah, his play so far has been encouraging. He hasn't looked out of place on the top pair.
Yeah, I think he's smart enough to adapt if he wants to. And his comments indicate that he knows there need to be changes in his game.He may have been his own worst enemy. When he came here out of college, Ed Snider started off with the “Gots to be here” stuff. He was seen as the salvation of the blue line.
Then he got here and produced at an unbelievable level. Teams adjusted to his game and worked at wearing him down physically. When his play slipped off he looked stunned and often lost on the ice. Turnovers started to happen and his once target shooting began to decline. Then the injuries hit and took their toll.
Ghost still has good skills but needs to allow them to be blended into a team scheme. He doesn’t need to try to do it all by himself like he once did. If that is where is is at now, he can be a partner for Provorov and the Flyers top four are set for the year.
So....when Couts comes back...what forward sits?
On another team, maybeScott laughton is perfect as a third center.
On another team, maybe
Really, it would be the perfect time to trade Laughton with Bunny looking quite fine.Bunny
