Speculation: 2020-21 News/Rumors/Roster Thread Part II

I would figure that Maatta would worth 2 wins, on vowels alone.
Not to mention I think one of our kids will be better than Lewis
yeah i think there's something for "addition by subtraction" that isn't reflected in the advanced stats there

maybe it's not by the book "improvement" in the single season sense, but it's certainly better in the long term

And he has dropped Turcotte like a rock.

I think the death of Turcotte has been greatly exaggerated.

No kidding. Turcotte was almost a point-per-game player at Wisconsin, despite illness and injury. Caufield was a point-per-game player, and he had an injury-free year. It's not really a big deal — Turcotte will likely be one of those guys that shoots back up the rankings this year like Vilardi has — but it's still a little funny to see. But I guess it should also be expected, too, there are a lot of good, young players in and around the NHL.

Yea the World Jr. didn't help but he was not put in a position to succeed because his name isn't Wahlstrom. I've never seen such a poor coaching job...

I’m cautiously optimistic for this year’s WJC. Lots of Kings prospects should be in attendance.

Still don't get how they can start the season in January with no schedule of anything out yet.

What do you mean? Of openings, regulations, etc?

Because other leagues, notably the NFL, are playing games with limited fans.

I think in this case the dynamic is different since it's a bit international but someone (forget who offhand) let slip there may be a "canadian division" this year and I would assume should things go steadily that they'd have playoffs in the bubble like they did this year

They are saying the season will start Jan 1st or close to that....yet, no confirmation of schedule, training camp, etc. That's crazy to me.

Bill Foley, owner of the Golden Knights, mentioned recently that he believes the start day will be around February 1. If that holds up, it'll be almost a year without any Kings hockey. I guess if we survived the 2004-05 lockout, this is nothing. At least this time we won't be greeted back with Jeremy Roenick in a Kings' uniform.
As owners go, I’d say Foley sharpens pencils and gets the coffee at the owners meetings.

It’s an Old-Boys club and he is the new kid in town. I’m guessing they call him Skippy.

He also a finance guy and probably doesn’t care if he runs the Knights at a big loss chasing the cup.

Not all owners are that lucky in this environment.

TV revenues are under $2B and them GMs already have $2.7B of player salaries on the books. It’s not looking good for Hockey in 2021.

I would argue the threat of their not being a 2021 season, is the reason it will happen. Too much to lose through advertising alone.

Turcotte is the kind of player who no one really has their eye on until he starts turning heads at the NHL level. Very similar to Mike Richards. Doesn’t do any one thing better than everyone, but does everything very well.

Honestly, the only bluechip player I’m legitimately worried about busting at this point is Kupari. I’m also still 50/50 on Vilardi’s long term health. Everyone else is progressing more or less as planned.

And he's universally loved by all our prospects beyond anything I've ever seen despite all the stories of how hard he goes at practice and slashes the everliving shit out of them

You can't teach that kind of personality

Regarding Turcotte, from your keyboard to God's eyes. Hopefully.

Hey guys sorry if this was mentioned in this thread or another but has there been any news on Lewis? I’m curious to see which teams are interested in bringing him in. TIA!

That right there was one of the low points in Kings history. One of the worst trades in history and colossal failures of Dave Taylor. JR was such a bum.

Bro, he was KILLING IT in that vegas pre season game with the dance moves. Made the entire acquisition worth it. Even got Luc in on it. Stuff of Legends

Only thing better would have been if he got Fro in on it.
