What are the odds Iafallo gets extended or moved?

High he gets extended. Good fit, probably worth more to the Kings than others, likes it here--where else is he going to get a 1LW role next to Anze Kopitar? No one else is going to pay him THAT much more than us. Will come down to term imo. They've already begun talks IIRC, or at least Blake said they're working on an extension or something thereabouts (someone else can correct me, too tired)

He's got at least another year till someone can steal his job.

i have to think he gets extended right? i don't know if he's played himself into a trade chip but cost-effective controllable guys must be something the org wants
I would think so yes; based on his career he looks to be a late bloomer at 27 so he would also fit the window of the Kings pretty promising & accelerated rebuild. Just wondering because he is a pending UFA.

Iaffalo, Kempe, Walker, Roy bridge the age and experience gap from the vets like Brown, Kopitar, Doughty, and Carter. I think you have to keep them at least until prospects push them out of spots.

What is with John Hoven’s love for Matt Luff?

He is in the Amadio/Wagner group. No real future in LA beyond this season.

All these players show flashes but are just AHL/NHL tweeners.

While I do enjoy his info, his opinions get in the way too often. He used to have an obsession with Mersch too, kept saying time to call up Big Mike. Like that would actually help the team at all, but Hoven’s problem is he seems to portray his opinions as facts and gets upset if argued with.

He seems to get really behind underdogs and wanting them on the team. Mersch, Brodzinski was another one, I think Eyssimont seems to be another. Just guys who are complete tweeners and he thinks are difference makers.

If Iafallo wants a stupid contract, trade him. If not, he's not terrible.

The issue is, what is he? In his last 101 games, he's got 25g and 64pts. In 82 games, that's 20g and 52pts. Call him a product of Kopitar, but 52 points isn't easy to replace.

Toffoli had production too, but most of us soured on him. I don't believe the collective has gone that far with Iafallo. We think he's replaceable in his role, but we don't seem to think he's as soft as tissue paper.

It's Blake's first big decision post-Oct 2018. Walker and Roy got pretty fair deals. Is Iafallo paid like a 1st liner, or a lower end 2nd liner?

Problem with Iaffalo isn’t Iaffalo it’s people’s belief of what time line wingers are. That Iaffalo is keeping the Kings from acquiring Ziggy or something. Majority of wingers are 50-60 point players that might have one uptick season and reach 70. When people want something more, that’s a top winger in the game and those don’t grow on trees.

While trying to think Iaffalo’s spot should be a Tarasenko, Kessel, Kucherov think that his spot is more a Perron, Oshie, Bailey, Zuccerello, Marchessault, Smith player instead.

I think the sticking point would be term. Kings have one of the lowest payrolls in the league so they can absorb a little higher than we would like. It's term that's important for the Kings since a number of good prospects can be top 6 in 2-3 years.

I don't think the Kings want too many years.

I would be surprised if Iafallo gets less than $5 mil per from the Kings. He deserves it.

Iafallo's not getting a silly contract, because people don't have the silly money to throw at him, and we've got a favorable situation for him.

I'm thinking something like 3 years, 3.5-4m
I am okay with $7M over two years.

$5M? no chance

like RJ said, i think we're topping out 3x$4

if he played every game with the moxy and skill he did the 2nd half of last night's game, there might be a conversation for $5M but until then..

I think if it were a normal market he gets that.

I might be overestimated the Covid crunch but I just don't see any of his comps helping to crack 4.5. Even Toffoli only got 4.25.

Second or third line guy feasting off Kopitar's first line minutes. 1 million per 10 points is not remotely feasible. Especially considering the market.

No knock on IO. He's a solid guy but he's a direct beneficiary of situation. That dude isn't going to get these opportunities anywhere but the on the King's.
