2. The Kings take Corey Perry over one of Boyle or Tambellini. You can also include guys like Bergeron or Weber but that was further down. Perry went with the next pick. The 2001 pick was probably a lost cause, not much at that spot.
.
Obviously impossible to prove , but I have thought long and hard about different draft selections in 2003...

...Our prospect development was so piss poor back them I wonder if a guy like Perry , Bergeron, or Webber would have turned out in our org-an-eye-zation.
I remember back in 04 , 05 etc people commenting from outside of the org how we butchered Brown. I think the lockout and the year in the AHL was really the saving grace.

WTF do I know tho?

These are absurd criticisms of Blake and Robitaille, as far as insinuatingbthey were "just along for the ride" in the cup wins.

Where were Lombardi's and Sutter's cups when they were the catalyst, prior to joining LA?

You can dislike them for policy, vision, execution, etc, but the same shit you're spewing about them "not knowing about winning" can be said about Lombardi and Sutter before June of 2012.

Luc was 'just along for the ride' in our two Cup wins. What has he ever done to justify making him President? Sure he's glib and looks good on camera, but where is any semblance of business acumen. Luc's major contribution was waiting like a vulture for DL to over stay his welcome and then sticking the knife in. You can make a legitimate argument that Blake earned his role. Luc just parlayed a nice smile and close relationship with the fans into a great post playing career.

2001 (I think) was pretty close. Tie game going into the third and just missed going up by a goal when Emerson (I think) hit the post. Could be wrong, just wingin it off memory on this one.
I'm fairly certain that was Smolinski that hit the post, but like you I'm not 100% sure. That was 20 years ago now (yikes!)

He commissioned a Staples Center usher to write a rap song. He picks out the decorations at some events I hear.

We also set the Guinness World Record for largest laser show because of him.

IMHO the in-arena entertainment at Staples Center has gone wayyyyy downhill since the Andy Murray era. The team being good from ~2011-2015 basically masked this (duh), but going to Staples a few years ago wasn't a fun experience, and it wasn't just because of the game itself. Personally, I'd ditch the smoke'n'mirrors (er, lasers), keep Bailey's noisemaking to a minimum, and bring back both the classic rock they used to play and Dancing Boy.

my old man rant has been about the telecast and how the intermission was crap. it has gotten better in the past few months. they actually show out of town scores and highlights now instead of talking about the players f***ing dogs. So that is nice.

Not sure if that is a Luc thing or who looks after that.

Robitaille will always be my favorite King of all-time, but he was gifted his current position which is part of the reason I distrusted Blake's hiring so much. There is a clear mark of nepotism around the organization, but at the same time I think having successful Kings of the past around the organization has led to good change. Players like Robitaille, Blake, Greene, Stoll, O'Donnell, Nichols, etc.

It's a slippery slope, but so far I've been impressed with Blake's results. I am very happy he is GM and not Robitaille. Blake had much more experience and worked closely with Lombardi too. At the moment, there is no need to rock the boat. Robitaille is in charge of projects and marketing surrounding the team. Sure, he didn't and may still don't know what he is doing, but he is really in an autopilot spot that isn't resulting in drastic negative changes. If he enters into a AGM/GM like role with the team I would be very upset. Till then, he's practically the face of the old guard of the franchise.

I’d like to see lias Andersson more. I think he’s a very interesting player. The skill is there. Seems whenever he is up , he’s around the net and has the chances.

just not long enough looks for us. Always up and down. I’d like to see them keep him up for the last stretch here. See what he can do

Looks like TMac heard you and it sounds like they are hoping he'll stick.

If you're citing Dancing Boy as a reason you enjoyed going to Staples, you may want to re-evaluate your life choices. ;)

There's the old yet proven adage that players win games but organizations win Championships. Under DL, we had a Championship organization that proved itself with two Cups. I don't see how you can get the same level of excellence from top to bottom when the CEO lacks the intelligence required for the position. I hope I'm proven wrong, but putting Luc in charge is a disasterous decision, particularly when you realize he stabbed his predecessor in the back.

It certainly implies it was a tactical recall for Andersson, so if JAD is fit that would mean they have used the 3rd call up on him. If JAD is injured and they used an emergency call up then I presume once he it available they’d have to return Andersson to the AHL or use the 3rd call up to keep him on the NHL roster. Is that correct?

I’d have no issue with Andersson getting the 3rd call up, but that likely takes Thomas and Fagemo out of the running. It would leave Turcotte and Kalyev as the two fighting it out for the final recall and although I hope Turcotte gets it Kalyev would be justified in being disappointed.

Seems according to Hoven that JAD was fit and Andersson will be LW going forward.

It's infinitely more complicated than you would ever believe.

The Bally broadcast looks like something a college kid made in his intro to broadcasting class. Sofa king generic.

What sort of sharp practice were you expecting to see?

Lizotte is definitely the Rudy of the team. He is the little guy that dreams of being a center in the NBA. He never takes a shift off and gets ragdolled and manhandled to no end, but keeps on going, even if you can tell he will never quite get there. He's a pretty good personality to keep around the team for however long he can hold on, but everyone knows we'll have to part ways sooner rather than later.
