Imagine a Marlies group with Amirov, Abramov, Abruzzese, SDA, Korshkov, Hallander up front. That is a talented forward group surrounded with some solid vets. Not sure if Hirvonen would be coming over soon.

Me to, put him on the Marlies and teach him how to play maple leaf hockey, get him learning English and gaining chemistry with other future leafs.
 
You guys seem to be suffering the same challenge as fans that Canucks fans are, regarding watching a first round pick develop on a khl squad. It’s been very frustrating seeing podkolzin playing like 8 minutes a game, but I think we all understand the “way it is”.

Nobody should worry. KHL teams just allocate ice time differently. Panarin only played 15:59 in his last KHL season.

One of the sole reasons I hope he is here for a long, long time.

Hopefully the public pressure from the vocal minority doesn't influence the length of his tenure. His drafting will keep this team's window open beyond the current core. It's that good.

Sandin, Robertson, and Amirov in three straight years is something we haven't seen in decades. Those who want him gone have no viable replacement in mind and will complain about the next hire until he too is inevitably fired. Jaded bunch that can't be pleased.

i am thrilled with his drafting. while i love his philosophy and his 2020 picks i would be cautious on rejoicing on amirov until we see him translate to NA.

It's ironic his drafting is so much better than Mark Hunter's. That was supposed to be Hunter's speciality

If he and Robertson can each slide into the top 9 in the next 2ish years, it'll be a huge boost to the teams depth.

Ideally Amirov can play in the AHL next season to get more icetime

I was reading somewhere that he is supposedly going to sign a 2 year contract extension in Russia.

Not everyone knows the history of the Hunters and the London Knights. Hunter was considered a draft specialist because he routinely drafted star players late in the OHL drafts. The problem is it had very little to do with scouting. London, as a city, is one of the largest cities with a junior team and being a party university town was an easy sell for teenage hockey players. The Hunters essentially sold top prospects on their program which influenced them to “commit” to other leagues (e.g. NCAA) or other sports so they would fall in the draft. Some rumors even include purposefully bombing interviews with a handshake agreement that the Knights would select them. That works in junior but doesn’t in the NHL.

Hunter was terrible outside of pushing for Marner over Hanifin.

While they look like great picks I’ll wait until they become productive members of the team before heaping on the accolades.
