He'll just blow down the wing and shoot it into the goalies chest at about the same point Crosby or Malkin is crossing the red line.
All these were pretty amazing goals...

What do posters think would have been a reasonable win-win trade for Kaps before the trade to Pitts happened?

If Amirov and Abramov are on Russia's top line at the WJC I might for the first time ever want Russia to do well. Obviously I would still want Canada to win gold.

For international tournaments I always pick a team based on the players I like, rather than just team Canada. So I'll be supporting Russia, for sure.

I've been thinking about Amirov lately, and I'm convinced we would have taken him at 13th if we had not traded that pick to Carolina. The players taken at 13 and 14 were both North American centers. We're deep at C on the current roster, and our draft clearly focused on players playing overseas. Good to know we didn't lose out much on the whole Marleau thing.

We very well could have taken him 13th but likely wouldn't have to do with who we have at center on the leafs. Our center depth for prospects is Hirvonen, Hallander, Abramov, SDA and Brooks. There is no guarantee any of these guys stick at center moving forward. If say a guy like Lundell is available at 13 and they deem him better than Amirov and looks to be much more likely to stick at center than they guys we already have, then I think we take him.

Plus we can always convert a center to wing if we have too many.

I'm pretty sure they take Jarvis, if he's available (and he was). I'm thrilled with Amirov's progress, but you still take the guy who projects better.

He wasn't a bad skater at all but I remember more of a choppy stride from him.

Amirov's skating reminds me a lot of Nylander.
Bozak wasn't a bad player, he was just playing to high up in the lineup. He was our number 1 center for a couple years. Bozak was a 3rd liner that was put in a position bound to fail. But regardless if people agree or not, they are almost mirror images of each other. When bozak made cuts down below the offensive face off dots, Rodion does the same thing. When he gains entry they both do the exact same thing. When we get him full time I think people will get it.

Much closer to Nylander especially when it comes to edges and lateral movement while handling the puck. Very smooth and effortless.

At this point we have nothing for KK, 2 prospects that may never be NHL worthy is nothing, Amirov might not even consider entering the NHL until after TO's window of contention has ended. I understand he is mulling over a 2 year contract offer from his team in the KHL right now. TO's contention clock is ticking.

TO also got Hallander in that trade who is having a rocky start to this year, according to The Hockey News he was Pitt's 3rd best prospect in a shallow pool.

Rodrigues wasn't resigned by TO and Warsofsky is probably/maybe going to end up on the Marlies.

Normally GMs come away from a draft with something outlandish like, we didn't think he'd be available so low in this draft, we don't hear that from anyone in the Leaf organisation.

Right now what we have from the trade is hope but nothing tangible.
So negative lol

Halandar was a top prospect for the Pens. If you analyze him as a prospect he's trending even better than Kapanen was, yet you're saying he's nothing special. On top of that, Am,irov looks like a stud.
Sorry, but that package is a heck of a lot for a 3rd liner with 1 40 point season. It just is.

And Schmdit looks like a great trade for Vancouver, only because Vegas handled that AP contract situation very badly. They got screwed by other teams who knew they were desperate to move cap.

Kapanen's problem is he looks so talented and elite when skating, yet completely lacks finish. He WAS given plenty of chances on the 1st line with elite centres.
This yes
