That's one of the biggest complaints we have. There's no identity to the team anymore.

They're not a big athletic team, they're not pacey, they're not tiki taka, they're not high effort, they're not bombing down the sides. They're just...meh.
I think this is the biggest issue they have, regardless of the manager they bring in. They need someone that will give the team direction. Pick style and move with it. Even though I think the talent on their team in general is overrated as you've mentioned before a big part of their issue also comes from the lack of cohesion. Alexis was great in a free offensive role, but he needs that to really thrive. Lukaku requires a very specific type of service and team. Pogba needs to be insulated. Their backline in general is just bad. Their midfield could be okay but Matic and Mata are both getting up there.

I mean, I'm happy with them continuing to fail but it's easy to look at that team and just be like...what are they trying to do? How can they even work together?

I mean, yeah. He's a backup right now. I don't think he's destined for one of the top 3-5 clubs in Europe like Dembele was. That said, it's highly likely he moves on next summer to keep his profile high. He doesn't want to stall by spending any more time as a bench player. And Dortmund will be willing to move a non-integral part of their current team for a big fee.

I think he'd do well in England.

I don't blame them for selling if they're offered a great price. I just think the rumors have gotten a lot of USMNT fans convinced he's too good for where he is. Which is absolutely not the case.

I'm also skeptical of where he could succeed in England. Chelsea might be the best landing spot. He's not starting full time for Liverpool, United has far bigger issues. Maybe Arsenal would be good as well.

Somewhere around the world
The craziest part is Juventus sign Pogba on a free from Manchester, sell him back to Manchester at record breaking fees and now they might sell him back to Juventus at a potential loss.

Some more Ajax rumors:

Overmars mentioned that there are two sides very close in finalizing deals for de Jong and de Ligt. He also mentioned how he loves Barcelona, but how they would need to hurry if they want either. Real Madrid will likely make an offer for de Ligt as well these next few days, though some teams still have the illusion they can get either during the winter break.

Ajax is talking to Juventus about Moise Kean.

Magallan is official as well. I'm starting to dislike this one more and more. Doesn't seem Ajax worthy.

Le Parisien announces Rabiot has already agreed to a contract with Barca.
Of course, that's illegal, but I think all 3 parties don't care. Though maybe PSG could use this if they have a proof to bother Barca after the constant whining of summer 17.
But more likely they don't give a f***.

I doubt Dybala lasts at Juve much longer. He should be running for the hills in the summer. Allegri is ruining him

If other reports are to be believed then PSG definitely seem to care and possibly to some detriment to the first team in the short term. Anyway, Neymar surely had already agreed a contract with PSG too.

No, they don't care he signed with Barca even though they're not allowed to sign him.
They care he leaves on a free and thus and leaving him out of the starting XI.

I don't know about Neymar. But you sure talked about it a lot.
Didn't hear you say anything about Rabiot negociating under contract however. ;)

I highly doubt they don't care he signed with Barça in addition to his potentially leaving on a Bosman.

I didn't talk much about Neymar. Either way while I think this sort of thing seems to happen a lot in the game it should either be enforced or done away with.

Hot take among the American NT crowd but Pulisic isn’t too good for Dortmund. If they sell it bc other teams have overvalued him.

Ideally he stays there and develops. It’s a good place for him. It’s a fun system, a good team, and somewhere he should work to flourish.

I agree with this, but I don't think its a hot-take.

Ajax closing in on Mexican Diego Laniez for 12M. Massive talent. Hope it finalises soon.

Ajax U21 RB Sergino Dest shut him down in the regional U20 final last month. Lainez is a really good dribbler and draws a lot of fouls, but he's not much of a passer and he struggles in the final third. I don't think he's as good as the last big talent from Mexico, Hirving Lozano. He's not even producing well for Club America. I don't think he's going to get into a better team. He should stay in Mexico and develop a couple more seasons.

vermaelen is out again for a month and Semedo was also out last game. Not sure if he's out long term but we need someone this winter window. Only Pique and Lenglet for cb's.

Yeah they’ll be bringing in a CB this winter window. Various names have been brought up, likely a short term solution before they offer up big money for De Ligt in the summer.

@Evilo how much do you think Aouar and Ndombele would fetch if they got sold either this window or in the summer? And how likely do you think it is that one or both of them actually move in the next 8 months?

My feeling €70M each Aulas never sell at a discount. I feel Lyon will only sell Fekir and Depay (both have agited for a move away and are older and with less term) before touching Aouar or Ndombele.

Lyon are making decent CL money and they are in good position in the league. I could somehow see Ndombele hold out for a move away but I don't think Aouar will consider doing that.
