WJC: 2019 Team USA Roster Talk

How can you collect a puck and move it if you cant win a battle in your own zone?
 
It seems like we usually have bad goaltending decisions.

Can they mess it up next year? It should be way too obvious of a decision, but they might.

I feel like most years since 2012 they’ve gave the most starts to the right choices that were there. I think our goaltending has been pretty solid over those years in this tournament. This year I’m just not as confident in Keyser or Primeau in do or die situations.

by getting to pucks before the other team does. you're also allowed to use your stick in hockey, which can be quite effective in puck battles.
 
Saw in a tweet by USA Hockey they are going to be wearing these beauties tonight. Breaking mine out too.

Really sucks, he has to hate watching another game from the press box. If he’s in for the quarters he has to get acclimated ASAP
 
Interesting that they're going with Primeau starting and Knight as back up. I wonder what it means for the playoff round. Considering they haven't bothered playing Knight at all, even in the Kazakhstan blowout, I wouldn't expect them to dress him in the quarterfinals. The question is then whether they've soured on Keyser, they're just resting him, or he's injured (possibly from that first game where he got hit)?

Who knows. Hastings has been known to split time between goalies more (This season has been 60/40 for his guys). He could very well just alternate between Primeau and Keyser from here on out.
 
Probably the best they've looked all tournament beyond the frantic finish against Sweden. Finland didn't really have much in terms of chances outside the PP, so the US needs to stay out of the box. They seem to be shooting more instead of the blind passes to the front of the net, which is a welcome development, but they need to do a better job hitting the net as they wasted too many prime chances by not making the goalie stop the puck.

Getting rewarded for their efforts tonight, Finland is playing a good game too. Need to keep putting pucks on net. Hughes with a few passes that make you cringe, then he makes up for it. Still does a bit to much at times
