Goes on Twitter, sees everyone complaining about the ball not landing before next pitch thrown. Is it really that bad?

Technically it's against the rules, but if they waited for some of these guys shots to land, they'd finish with 1/2 the HR total just because of the hang time. Carlos Santana might've moved on because his 13 or however many HR he hit were all screaming line drives vs Pederson and Vlad driving towering blasts into the night sky.

They should just have umps down the lines and signal for the next pitch once the ball either lands in the field or crosses the threshold of the fence.

They're not waiting for the moonshots to land. Not that big of a deal IMO. That would take too much time off the clock and overly favor line drive HR hitters.

They did mention that as a rule at the start, but no one seemed to follow it.

Yeah it would just make it too mechanical, the pitcher would have to turn to watch the ball then turn back to throw again. Even though it's a stated rule I'm glad it's being ignored.
