The real reason is that he’s 17 years old, his body is still that of a little boy and he’s never played against men like this.

He’s a solid talent, but not ready for prime time yet.

He was great in their first game, even with out the production.

I didn’t see the France game so I can’t speak to that.

It's an excuse.
How many times did you fly over 14 hours in a week while having just played over 90 minutes of top level hockey at the age of 17?

If Kakko did the same hed be dragging all the same too. Theyre teenagers. Lay off the tough guy act when discussing people who havent fully finished puberty yet

Outside of Kakkos goals, he looked phenomenal in his possession play and his body blocking of the puck. Hs an absolute demon along the boards and one on one with a defender when it comes to fighting for the puck.

Im still confused why he isnt utilized at center. Not quite seeing it

We know how it works. Lias Andersson played in three different professional leagues last year, played in camp and preseason, played in the WJC, played in the WC, a few other international tournaments with Sweden in the EHT, played with his Swedish club in the Champions Hockey League, etc. We counted, he played in something like 110+ games as a teenager all over the world in various competitions. It's not that uncommon for higher-end prospects to have crazy schedules at this age.

For sure these kids have far more mental and physical conditioning than 90% of us haha. I just find it incredible how some keyboard warriors can make claims about how tired a player is being an excuse when they themselves probably get gassed from a mens league game

Traveling isn't exactly tiring. You sit in an airplane. You can even sleep the entire time. The issue is the jet lag, however this won't be as big of an issue with Hughes because he just was in Europe for a long time. We also can compare to the rest of the team - let's remember jet lag should be less impactful for young people, not more.

This issue is very minor if an issue at all. Although, it's an odd decision to fly back to USA in between the competitions. It's bad for the environment and bad for jet lag. I'd have thought that he'd stay in Europe the entire time.
