Looking at the schedule 6-10 seems to be the most likely result. They probably beat the Dolphins Cardinals and Eagles once and I’m betting they’ll grab one of the three Jets/Skins/Lions. I think if they somehow get to 7-9 everyone would take that season as a win with this defense and Barkley likely being out all year. I highly doubt he comes back if they’re 4-6 or 4-7

I'm with you and I think the organization will be pretty happy with 6-7 wins in Jones' first season.

My picks for rest of season:
MIN: L
NE: L
AZ: W
DET: L
DAL: L
NYJ: W
CHI: L
GB: L
PHI: L
MIA: W
WAS: W
PHI: L

With Chicago or one of the Philly games most likely to get them to 7 wins.

I also want to point out that Bill Belichick drafted Sony Michel in the first round a year ago (yes I realize it was a late 1st rounder but still a 1st rounder nonetheless). Bill Belichick could only dream to be the football mind of SA, apparently.

But it was indeed a late 1st rounder. That's a massive difference. Plus, they have a franchise QB.

It's a big difference, but if the position doesn't matter like SA is saying then why draft one in an early round at all? Also, 2018 wasn't the last draft where we could get a franchise QB. Daniel Jones looks as good as any QB in that draft. Maybe other than Mayfield in his rookie year.

I’m generally against using high first rounders on a RB but Barkley may be the exception to the rule. I think you need to be a top 3 or 5 RB in the league and he is. The 2nd part is that the Giants look to have hit on Jones. Before seeing him I was saying they screwed up by not getting a QB with that Barkley pick. You obviously can’t win without a QB in the NFL.

He's already out of the boot. Barkley will be back for sure this year.

I would normally hate 7-9 since you fall out of the premium pick range. However, 7-9 with Jones playing well and improving game by game would be a great thing. That would mean he finishes the year with a .500 record which would be nice to see.

And it was a bad pick. He's a part time player for them who they don't even let on the field on pass downs. He also has a long history of knee issues and likely will have a short career. His role (exactly the same as LeGarrette Blount's was) is basically to handle obvious running situations, short yardage, and to run the clock when they have a big lead. Blount they happened to acquire in 2013 for a 7th round pick and then signed him for the league minimum in 2014 and for 2M in 2016.

The Patriots other running backs in recent years who got significant playing time are Rex Burkhead (6th round pick signed for 3M), James White (4th round pick), Dion Lewis (5th), Mike Gillislee (5th), Brandon Bolden (UDFA), Shane Vereen (2nd), Stevan Ridley (3rd), Jonas Gray (UDFA), Danny Woodhead (UDFA). And none of it has made any difference. They went between 11-5 and 14-2 every year including 12-4 3 times and were ranked between 1-4 in offense every time. But it doesn't really matter if you take a player like that when you have Tom Brady since the negative impact will be negligible.

I’m more concerned with the Jets unwillingness to use premium picks on their O-Line. The last time they invested there they went to two AFC championship games...

Maccagnan just absolutely refused to address the problem. Too busy drafting pass blocking tight ends from West Virginia. I think Douglas has a functioning brain and will take care of that this offseason.

The Giants will have to show up like they did yesterday and beat bad teams. They have to beat the Redskins and Dolphins. Thats 2 wins right there. After that a lot of games could go either way as you are mentioning. Even the Cardinals could be a tough matchup because our defense is just terrible. But there is certainly a chance they can get to 7, even 8 wins. Their schedule really isnt that difficult.

Pretty large sample size of backup RBs coming in and it making no difference to the teams offense. In some case it actually got better as teams pass more when they lose their starter.
Yea 1 game goes by and lets declare that there is no need for what Saquan brings to the table. This absolutely laughable. Freaking laughable. Saquan is good in pass protection, he is good in the passing game, he extends running plays more finding more holes and escaping tackles which you could see yesterday Gallman simply cannot do. Saquan keeps the defense honest which will help Daniel Jones in the passing game. You had the Redskins secondary trying to jump routes all game. They came up with their turnovers and couldve had more. Saquan being out there forces the oppositions coordinator to dial up some plays with more guys in the box including a DB.

Yeah Gallman is just fine...we beat the damn Redskins...

I love that you're so arrogant that you think you know better than Belichick. Also, he was the best player on offense either in the SB or AFCCG, don't remember which one. Maybe both.

Cool. Almost all running backs don't matter. It's been near proven by math. There's tons of research on the topic. I love that you're so arrogant that you won't take the time to read it and understand I will stop wasting my time trying to convince you otherwise. Good appeal to authority though I guess it's impossible that Belichick can NEVER make a mistake. For the record infallible drafter Bill Belichick has not drafted a player to make the pro bowl in the last five years.
