I’m all for continuing to draft on defense until we actually have secured a strong young top 4 or 5 then trading any extras for forwards at that time.
Scott Wheeler dropped his rankings this morning, tooa good read for those interested...The Draft Analyst | 2019 NHL Draft: Top-100 (November)
Steve posts on here and backs up his rankings - if you have any questions check him out in the prospect thread he always responds..
12 Americans in the top 31...this is going to be one of if not the strongest draft USA Hockey has ever had...
I expect no response back, and I do this as charity for our team board here..Watched the Canada-Russia Super Series Game last night..
Draft 2019 eligible Centers Dylan Cozens and Kirby Dach played for Team WHL in their 2-1 victory.. Cizens scored a goal off a rebound in front 9f the Russian net ...but Dach was playing RW not Center because of the depth of WHL Centers for this game ...Though Dach did not score he was Again to me the mire impressive of the 2 big Center Prospects even though he was used on the wing..
Every time I have seen them playboy the same team it is Dach who I notice more than Cozens ...I still have not seen Dach play Center though as both TeamWhl and Team Canada at other tournaments have used him at RW only. HE DOES pay Center for Saskatoon in regular WHL league play and has put up better numbers than Cozens this season to date.
Saw big 6'4 205 lb. Center Brett Leason, the undrafted 20 yr old points leader of the WHL play in this game..first time I have seen him. ..Had several scoring chances..did get a primary assist on a high past to him that he knocked down to his stick with his hand then made a quick feed to an open shooter ...this was a play from behind the goal line of Russia ...Liked his long reach and his tracking done pucks and play at the net. .Surprisingly good speed for a big man...he is faster than Entwhistle as a skater...so if I were Stan I certainly would be trying to sign him..
The more good free agent juniors we can sign without even using h a draft pick the better for our pipeline.
So do it...Stan...
The goalies were good in this game bit both Ian Scoot for Team WHL and Danilo Tatasov for Russia are already drafted by NHL teams..
The best player I saw was Washington 1st round pick the huge dman Alexander Alexeev. He plays in Red Deer of the WHL but joined his Russian homeland team for this game...He made playing shutdown D look easy ...took guys off pucks to easily loll plays..played smooth and just made it look easy...Wish we had a big shutdown big minutes guy like that ...Washington has a good one in him.
in case those are wondering...
Jack Hughes has 15 points in his last 3 games....lol, yep...trade Keith, Crow, Saad, and AA tomorrow for picks please!!!
what is bothering me is why is he dropping from a top 10 to mid teens in the mock draft. all the while he is scoring like a demon.also, Arthur Kaliyev keeps pimp slapping the OHL, 2 more points (1g 1a) going head to head with another stud in Jason Robertson of Dallas property...
I don't know what people want or see here...kid skates hard to the net, has a great shot, amazing balance and strength, his edge work is top notch, his shot accuracy and timing is near elite...but some want to drop him out of the top 10 because he seems disinterested away from the puck and doesn't show all his effort in the d-zone...some of that I get, but that is the most teachable thing you can have....and as I have said many times, this is the stigma many guys like Kaliyev seem to unfairly get - Wahlstrom, Laine, Ovi, etc all had this talk/issue..some of it is true, but when you are the best at the most important thing in hockey - scoring goals, I would take that and run and work on the other issues away from the puck as he matures..what is bothering me is why is he dropping from a top 10 to mid teens in the mock draft. all the while he is scoring like a demon.

he was born in the US, spent his entire life here, he is American.matures ???? while i totally agree with you basing on his age but this kids is super intelligent. he left Russia to come to America so he can improve his draft position, while putting all the work plus more to improve his game.
i been on this kid for, it seems as Aug 2018 when i read about him and several possible scoring leaders in this yr draft yr.
i agree that was confusing as well.... here is where i got the additional infohe was born in the US, spent his entire life here, he is American.
he was born in the US, he first showed his passport then his US birth certificate to the OHL - born in New York...the link you posted was inaccurate when posted and has been discredited by Kaliyev himself.. Arthur had some people questioning his age, some were suggesting he was lying and was older because how dominant and physically advanced he was. He then brought in his passport then US birth certificate to show the league/others that he was not only 16 but born in the US.i agree that was confusing as well.... here is where i got the additional info
The son of parents born in Uzbekistan, Kaliyev came to America at 11 months old
there was another article that stated he was approach to play in Russia but said no. however i can't find that article.... i should have save it. but i read too much.
Kaliyev a star in the making for Bulldogs – Ontario Hockey League
then from the point of the info i was using is wrong..... i will acknowledge that i was wrong with posting and using bad info.he was born in the US, he first showed his passport then his US birth certificate to the OHL - born in New York...the link you posted was inaccurate when posted and has been discredited by Kaliyev himself.. Let’s see your ID, Mr. Bulldog
he didn't come here to advance himself in hockey, he was born in Staten Island.
no worries, bottom line is - the kid is good.then from the point of the info i was using is wrong..... i will acknowledge that i was wrong with posting and using bad info.
many thanks for correcting me.
yes i am in total agreement with that.no worries, bottom line is - the kid is good.
This could be a big week to really cement ourselves in the basement.
4 games, 2 against playoff contenders in Carolina and Minnesota. A rivalry game vs the Blues, and a game against the Kings.
I’ll tak 3 L’s and a W against St. Louis, please.

don't forget Brouwer in 04' and Buff in 03' ...we don't get through Vancouver without them....both amazing late round picks..Wow ... I just skimmed over the last 17 years of our drafting ...
2002 D. Keith 2nd rd
2003 B. Seabrook 1st , C. Crawford 2nd
2004 D. Bolland 2nd, B. Bickell 2nd
2005 N. Hjalmarsson 4th
2006 J. Toews 1st
2007 P. Kane 1st OA
2008 No one.
2009 M. Kruger 5th
2010 No one
2011 P. Danault 1st, B. Saad 2nd, A. Shaw 5th
2012 T. Teravainen 1st, V. Hinastroza 5th
2013 R. Hartman 1st, J. Hayden 3rd
2014 N. Schmaltz 1st, prospects ( Sikura, Snuggerud, )
2015 no one really
2016 A. Debrincat 2nd
2017 H. Jokiharju 1st ( Mitchell, Soderlund )
2018 A. Boqvist 1st ( Beaudin, Wise )
We may have our D. Keith, Hjalmarsson and B. Seabrook 2.0's in Jokiharju, Mitchell and Boqvist
We may have our Bolland 2.0 in Wise.
Now we just need that bonifide #1C in this upcoming draft and maybe land Panarin and we may have another deep run coming up in a year or three! Just as long as we don't have to suck for 9 or 10 years to get there!
Omg and I love Big Buff! I saw him when I skimmed through than forgot to include him! Brouwer I did forget!don't forget Brouwer in 04' and Buff in 03' ...we don't get through Vancouver without them....both amazing late round picks..
I like Barratt more for Bolland but both he and Wise should be solid pro players...
