I don't buy that he's the highest ceiling player, or even higher ceiling than Stutzle. He certainly isn't more than Lafreniere.
If Byfield hits his max he is the best player of those three. Plays the most important position and has the best physical tools.

Byfield doesn’t have the highest ceiling. He has the most physical tools, but he lacks the brain of other players in the draft.

When there is something that holds a player back from being great, it’s almost always the brain. He’s also overrated as a skater. Straight line he’s impressive, but his multi directional mobility is pretty meh.

Agreed. Which is one of the reasons I like Zegras so much. Kakko has better physical tools but he seems driven by pure will more than anything to me, even though he's by no means a "dumb" player.

Are we being homers here?
Kaapo Kakko vs Trevor Zegras

Main board voted 80.4% Zegras 19.6% Kakko
And that’s who will be the better player, not who would you rather have when you already have Lafreniere, Panarin, Buchnevich, Kravtsov & Kreider on the wings.

that fickle group will flip their own script two weeks into a season if Kakko scores a hat trick and Zegras has three assists.

Someone on Facebook argued Zuccarello was better than Kakko because Zuccarello put up over a point-per-game at the same age. He failed to mention that was in the Norwegian league

Aside from being a large man, what tools are you talking about?

It’s ultimately up to the player. You can surround a player with the best circumstances, coaching and training tools but they may still not reach what was seen as their potential.
Of course, but it sure does help doesn’t it?

What the f*** does the main board know about Kaapo Kakko? This place is totally toxic about prospects.

Rags fans homers?! Nooooo... Of course Zegras is better. That you even have to ask the question speaks to the collective delusion of the Rags fanbase.

I take Zegras alllllll day over KK.

But tbh though, even though I was a "Trevor guy" I would of taken Kaapo at the draft.

That he has as many ES points as Kakko in half the games played? That he's a center? That he's a much better player in all zones despite playing on a worse team with AHL level linemates?

LOL at being a better player in all 3 zones.

also his most common line mates last year were Henrique, Terry and Comtois. Stop talking out of your ass.

Troy Terry? You mean the AHl level linemate I was talking about that scored 2/3s of his points after Zegras arrived?

Terry played 48 games last year. He was a regular.

how about Henrique and Comtois? Are they AHL players too?
Players don't play with 3 linemates. Henrique definitely struggled last year. He was noticeably better with Zegras. Comtois is a nice player, but Zegras made him better too. His most common linemate was Troy Terry who had a whopping 6 points before Zegras got there. Anaheim was bad for a reason. Same with the Rags.

You're the one saying that he played with AHL level players. He played with 3 NHL regulars.

Also its interesting that Terry's production went up as his usage went up. Funny how that works.

Also Comtois' most productive months were February and March. Zegras didn't factor in on a single goal that Comtois was involved in (being that either Comtois was a goal scorer, or assisted on a goal scored by Zegras or co assisted on one scored by someone else.)

Again I ask you to please stop talking out of your ass.
