Any idea of who the prospect is? if its Zadina or Rasmussen I don't flinch and take the trade but i think the prospect is the key to the deal. Btw great seeing u back TG you were missed on the board more then I have words to say. A voice of reason goes a long way in here.

I doubt it's 1 of Detroits better prospects on top of the picks to move up 1 spot.

Sportsnet's Sam Cosentino with his latest mock.

"One final note on this draft. In all my conversations, I haven’t seen such a wide variety of players eligible to go between 22 and 60. Usually, it’s safe to say that between picks 25 and 40 you have a certain degree of variance. That variance is exponentially different for the 2019 draft class. Because of this anomaly, we may see trade-back scenarios present themselves towards the end of the first round. "

I agree and he is who I would take but I've only watched highlight videos.

Yes same here but man kid still looks dayem good. I don't know I'm just hoping whoever we pick will be a good top line player. Still a crapshoot no one knows how these kids are going to pan out.

Idk, I'm not a scouting pro by any means, but Dach seems like a consistent, big bodied guy who gets things done. But he doesn't have that spark with the puck as far as I can see.

Meanwhile Zegras is not only a puck hound and two way guy, but always seems like a threat on the ice, whether he's making passes or chasing down pucks. He's out there connecting on plays most players wouldn't even dream of, and consistently getting the puck to the inside. As a team which struggles to get to the dangerous areas, he seems like a good bet.

Kirby Dach is the safer pick, but Zegras probably has slightly higher potential in end. Dach is a good skater for his size and excellent playmaker like Zegras, just problems with consistency which isn't weird for a young player, needs to shoot more (Cough Kopitar Cough). While Zegras is a little more finesse and slightly better skater than Dach, both have really high hockey IQ's opposite of Cozens IMO and why I'm not sold on him being a top 5 pick, various videos I've watch (im not pro scout of course) seems almost like a skilled guy who's dumb. I'd be happy with either Dach or Zegras if Turcotte/Byram aren't there at 5.

With picking 5th, the Kings kind of have to lean towards the safe pick here. Dach is more likely to pan out overall at center in the NHL IMO. I see Dach as a high end center at his height, while Zegras could reach that, but maybe as a winger instead. Even then, it might be better to place your chips on the guy who's seen as a lock to reach that over hoping other guy puts it together and surpasses that.

Actually Dach has had questions regarding his effort and consistency, there were times he was almost invisible out there, but scouts seem to think that won't be a problem going forward and it's just a young player dealing with inconsistencies which is normal.

I see Dach as a high end 2nd center at his height, while Zegras could reach 1st center based on his skill set. Even then, it might be better to place your chips on the guy who'll reach that high 2C than hoping for 1C

Good post although I really don't think I see anything so troubling in Dach's skill set to think he won't be a #1 someday, maybe just in time to push Kopitar down the food chain a notch or two as he gets older. Either way, both players are good but I think the Kings will go with the safer pick, especially with the other potential #1 C still not skating and missing his 3rd straight development camp.

I personally do. I think that if BB and KD are gone then we would be crazy to pass up a deal like that. If BB drops to 5th (i don't see it) then we would be crazy not to take him regardless of what Detroit had to offer (almost).

I still say that it would be great to see ColeC in a kings uni lighting up the scoreboard but Cozens and Turcotte would both be crazy good for us. This draft is one of the best in a long time. Top ten picks all look like locks to make the NHL. After that it is on them.

I don't see anyway Caufield is drafted by LA, goal scoring winger is nice, but having a high end center is better. If Turcotte is there at 5, they take him. I believe he's #1 on their list. Epitome of what they like. I don't like Cozens at all, skilled guy, but I think he's a dumb hockey player, obviously I'm not a scout, but what I've tried to watch and see, I don't see the high IQ there on the ice, like I do with Turcotte/Dach/Zegras.

Sorry I misspoke, I think Dach projects as a high end center (1-2), while Zegras has the potential for that at a slightly higher level, but Dach is a more sure thing.

Detroit has offered their 6th overall + a 2nd round pick and a conditional (I haven't heard yet what the additional pick is but I have also heard a prospect would be involved) to move up one spot to #5 providing their player is still available.

I wonder who "their player" is? By the way take it for what it is. I don't have a source. Sorry about that.

Seems like that could make sense for both teams. I would guess Detroit wants Byram cause they need D, LA is a little more well off at D then Detroit. LA doesnt have the depth of good prospects Detroit does though so LA picks up an extra second (solid prospect), another prospect and possibly someone like Dach or Zegras at 6th.

I would guess that the prospect from Detroit wouldnt be anything special but it would be someone who has a chance to play in the league some day

Trade down a couple of spots, and draft Cole Caufield. The Kings need snipers, and he's the best goal scorer in the draft.
