While it is hilarious, if you go back and look at every single defenseman's career from Orr, Lidstrom and Bourque on down to Polak type guys.
You're bound to find several such events happening

That’s true. But I was out for dinner and within 10 seconds of glancing up at the game, I saw that happen and I had a chuckle.

Absolutely.
It amazes me how sheltered Dahlin is, he's a #4 pp specialist. He's basically utilized the same as Kevin Shattenkirk used to be.( just you know with more talent)
But buffalo fans act like he's the second coming.

I have in previous threads. I've given up on it.
Dude is utilized so little at even strength starts something like 60% of his shifts in the offensive zone. Seriously without his PP time he'd be playing as a # 6 defenseman in Buffalo right now. I know it's early and that will change over the course of the season, once buffalo stabilizes, obviously with their start they don't need to play him as much but it was largely the same last year. Without all the injuries last year (Scandella, Bogosian, McCabe) he probably plays an even more sheltered role than he already did which is Ekblad rookie year territory.

He's a hell of a hockey player, but ever since he was given that pre-draft "generational" label and because of his Point production that's all people really care about.

I don't get too invested into the Heiskanen vs Dahlin debate, because it's like a religious war at this point.
Both sides are fighting over their imaginary friend being better than the others.
We're a year in to their careers, there's nothing to really discuss especially with such widely different utilization

I feel like there are some insecurities relating to how Eichel has panned out relative to McDavid. This is also a team who's first round picks have largely sucked over the last decade+. It's comparably bad to ours.

They also seem to be going through what Stars' fans went through, where they haven't seen/had a good defender in so long that they heavily overrate the first one they see (e.g., a contingent arguing Robidas and/or Daley were top-pairing defenders).

Looks like he's been mailing it in after cashing out. Would that have happened here ? No idea but the Stars weren't ever giving Zucc the NMC in the expansion year something his camp was insisting on . So that was never going to happen. Stars have too many NMC's for aging forwards already.

Sad to hear. He seemed to be emotional, recall him saying he likes to be where he is liked, etc. He sure seemed excited to join the Stars for the playoffs. But, he did make the call to go for an extra year and NMC over obviously being comfy, loved and in contention here in Dallas.

From our fan perspective, makes the Pavs signing (and early non production) a bit more palatable. But, it also amps up worry that Benn and Seguin may also be mailing it in. Not a lot, but as Dad used to say, there is a difference between "100%" and 100%. Any of the three would be insulted at any suggestion they are not going all out, and I think they are, in their minds, except they might not even realize that even 0.1% they are leaving out on the ice.

Only if he decides to completely waive his NMC . Teams can't decide that . Only if a player is traded before a NMC kicks in can teams decide not to honor it. ( Subban was such a case )

I figured out the team's identity. It's not good news.

They're the Washington Redskins of the NHL. Dallas is the place where no one expects them to win, the owner spends every cent allowable on talent, and none of it ever seems to add up. Dallas is the place where free agents sign big contracts and then put themselves out to pasture.

Dive in, everyone. We might as well embrace it until Corey Perry suits up, then it's time to move on to other past times.

If the new GM was set on rebuilding, theres really no reason they wouldn't retain salary if it meant getting out from under the contract knowing Zucc holds most of the cards with a NMC. The Stars could pretty easily end up with him for a similar combination of term/money that they were looking for this summer without having to give much at all in return- certainly not a first.

I’m pretty sure they aren’t rebuilding. One of the first moves Guerin made was overpaying Spurgeon with both term and money. Could have made a great trade chip especially if he would have signed an extension with the new team.
