I'm not the Pens GM, but I think the following are likely available:

Galchenyuk (W)
Dominik Simon (F)
Bjugstad (RW/C)
Zach Aston-Reese (W)
Justin Schultz (RD)
Jack Johnson (LD)
Juuso Riikola (D)
Casey DeSmith (G)

1st round picks probably aren't available.

As far as prospects, I think Calen Addison would be available thanks to the emergence of John Marino. And no, I'm not hoarding the Pens prospects, they just don't have that many.
That's definitely the bargain bin...I mean maybe Galchenyuk but its concerning why every team he's on is quick to move him...

Uh...you know Brown was stapled to Kopitar before those seasons too, right? In fact, he's been a constant his whole career.

Oh was this before or after DS put him in the dog house and he was replaced by Gaborik, Lucic and others.. Brown is at his best with Kopitar obviously but during those low production years he was kicked to the curb by the Canadian Elmer Fudd Farmer..

I don't think you'll find anybody else on this site that will agree with your statement that Iafallo has a really good shot. His career 8% shooting percentage says to me he is a guy miscast on the 1st line simply because the Kings have failed to draft, develop, sign or trade for a legit #1 winger.

Not sure if shooting percentage is what I would use to judge of a player has a good shot or not, Iafallo and his 8.6 vs Justin Williams and his 8.8 or Jarrett Stoll and his 9.0 etc.

What you are arguing about is a lack of finish, has nothing to do with the shot itself....

He doesn't have a laser beam, can't go top shelf-much like the entire Kings roster. I know if there was a screen Iafallo wouldn't shoot high and hit the glass, he would hit the net. AI is a safe, smart player who will eventually be a great 3rd liner for the Kings.

Honestly, the Kings are here just because they could use any kind of infusion of youth and natural scoring ability and Galchenyuk would at least tick those boxes. Los Angeles has the lowest shots against rate in the league so the defensive base is at least in place, but their offence ranks 30th so perhaps Galchenyuk could be free to just worry about trying to get some offence going.

The trouble is his contract doesn’t allow the Kings a plan to move forward with at this time and, really, playoffs are out of the question for 2020 anyway. They seem more likely to be trading out NHL players for future assets, but maybe how this gets accomplished. The Kings are one of the few teams that could absorb Galchenyuk’s full cap hit so what if he is used as, more or less, a salary dump, and the Kings can pick up some other longer-term asset to take a chance on?

Just about 71 days to go, to get to better times....trade deadline, Monday, Feb 24. Hope by then, Toffoli, Lewis, Martinez, and Kovalchuk are gone...and possibly Quick, Hutton, Carter, Clifford too. Can then get some focus on the future and see a few of: Vilardi, JAD, Kupari, Bjornfot, Anderson, Petersen get some games in. Can't wait. 71 days! Cuz this current team is not worth watching...and I have only missed 10% at the most televised / aired games since 1974. It's fun watching Lizotte, Walker, Prokhorkin and even Roy becoming NHL players...but not so fun watching Toffoli and Lewis still trying to be NHL players (or not trying...or trying and failing)

Why is everyone so quick to trade Martinez? Our blue line is already a filthy mess and you want to move one of two serviceable blue liners we have left? He’s still got another year on his contract and will be a good mentor for some of the youth. What is next years d-corp going to look like without AM?

Pretty sure we're not even thinking about playoffs for another few years, so why keep him when he can be an asset generator? If he was on a long term impossible to trade contract, I'd understand keeping him around like Doughty.

I was listening to XM the other day and Jonathan Davis was on the show, and said he was at the Kings vs Caps game talking with a Kings top executive and was told they are hoping to unload 5+ players by the deadline. That seems a bit of a task, but hopefully that happens.

My guess is Toffoli, Lewis, Martinez and Campbell and Kovalchuk (which won’t be an easy task).

I think we have plenty of assets, IMO. You don’t trade from a position of weakness...we are already weak in the blueline, you don’t make it worse when you don’t need to.

Trading guys like Toffoli and Lewis makes sense because they are UFAs and they don’t contribute. Total opposite of AM.

Oof. Next year is gonna be bleak too.

If not Kovalchuk, Carter.

I'd say some of those names are getting ahead of ourselves. Toffoli, Lewis, Clifford, Hutton, and maybe even Forbort if he's healthy by then. Martinez. That's the easy 5 or 6 names. Of course hoping is also different from doing. The problem with Kovalchuk is nobody knows if he's going to work wherever he goes. Any team taking him now is on the hook for whatever % they take for next year, good or bad. Carter has the 2 full years left, and no substantial rumors of retirement before then. Campbell is probably more of a summer thing. Now the other team has to account for $1.65m on the cap for the next 2 years. That's fairly cheap, but it's not cheap cheap.

Simple and easy are always the more likely streets teams will go down with the cap. UFA's at the deadline. Dollar in, dollar out. The bigger deals are usually a June/July thing when teams have the cap space.
