the Ducks are in much better shape contract wise than the Kings are.
Why does that matter? When are the Kings going to need cap? It's a f***ing rebuild.

The premise in my original post was simple...management needs to set goals and accountability for the team. If you disagree with that premise, I'm happy to discuss.
Man it's hot in here. Was this the game that finally broke everyone?
This is the worst Kings product ever iced. The fact that there are Kings legends and heroes out there makes it worse.
Seriously: this is the worst it's ever been. Ask yourself why you watch and try to give an answer that doesn't make you seem pathetic.
I watch because I love hockey, the Kings are my favorite team so I watch them the most. It's pretty easy to give an answer that doesn't seem pathetic. That game sucked and a lot have this season, but there have been fun parts as well.
Sometimes your team is going to suck, especially in the cap era of forced parity. Think about Sabres fans, the last time they went to the playoffs the Kings had yet to win a cup. Those fans still tune in.
The truth is I don't watch it much anymore. I would rather watch college basketball than the NHL right now.Man it's hot in here. Was this the game that finally broke everyone?

Brown has nothing to prove unless he is driven or feels it would be fun to help another team win a Stanley Cup. If he isn't driven to win another cup, I am sure he would rather just play out his contract, make sure he doesn't get seriously injured, and retire on the beach.Brown looks like he is ready to retire, at this point what does Brown have left to prove?
I always like very subjective opinion being presented as fact, especially when you don’t understand how a rebuild works. The players haven't tuned out the coach...they've tuned out management (Blake and Luc). Management has basically told them that this is an open-ended rebuild with no timetable to be competitive again. The players know they'll never play an important game as an LA King for the remainder of their careers here. As such, the players have been relieved of all accountability for their performance. Their money is guaranteed and they hold all the cards when it comes to being dealt. The players also know that management has no intention of trying to improve the team in the next 2-3 seasons at least. Banking on draft picks does nothing to help the current locked up core. They could care less since these draft picks are years away from playing at the NHL level.
This is as bad a situation as I've seen an NHL team in for quite some time and it will be interesting to see when AEG says "enough". The best thing management could do right now is to tell the players and the fans that they fully expect to be a playoff team in 21-22 and will make whatever moves are necessary to ensure that goal. There needs to be goals and accountability in this organization again. Right now there are zero of each and it shows. 2nd and 3rd round draft picks may excite a few fans on a website but they do nothing for the ownership, fans, and sponsors who are shelling out ridiculous money for the current (and future) product on the ice.

Not even close to the worse I’ve seen. I became a fan in 1970 , the 38 point season. I remember 74 season when the owner hired a stripper to strip on the ice during an intermission. Mostly because my parents were Bruins fans and my dad’s work had season tickets no one else wanted. Had to cheer on the team against my parents. When the wife worked for Disney 92-94, and her dad worked for the Arrowhead pond, with tickets to almost every game. I could have swapped then, but the roots are too deep.Man it's hot in here. You are talking about beyond this year, but the lack of roster flexibility has been a problem for at least three seasons.
Why does it have to be a choice between playing 20-year olds and Kopitar and Doughty, or what they are doing now? The bottom line is the Kings should have moved on from both of these guys, because by the time the rebuild is complete it is likely neither of these two will be putting the Kings over the top.

I live in the City of Orange. We literally live 5 minutes from Honda Center. On a quiet night with the windows open I can sometimes hear there goal horn, which is real annoying annoying on the tv delay when they play the Kings.
I used to be a King’s Season Tix holder and as we are battling the 5 to get Staples on time my wife says “Why don’t you just become a Ducks fan”.
I looked at her, pointed at my Kings hat and said “because I already have the hat”.
So, to answer your question, I still follow the Kings because of the hat. I don’t post much anymore because it’s stupid to fight about who’s theory on the Kings is more or less correct but I still check in to read to get updates on Allison and Deader and when they may be coming back.
I dunno man, there was a time that Brad Chartrand was a top line winger. Pretty sure that was worse, but I guess it’s like arguing about preferring a punch in the dick instead of a kick. Neither is good.Man it's hot in here. Was this the game that finally broke everyone?

I feel like getting older and realizing that time is the most valuable commodity we have might have something to do for it at least for me. I used to watch without question too but now yeah, do I really have nothing better to do than watch these bozos fail for three hours at a time?Yeah. We're all still here because we're all huge fans but, seriously, deciding to watch this trash over doing anything else is kind of problematic at this point. It feels reflexive because that's what we've done for so many years: watch every Kings game. This team makes me question "why?" when there used to be no questions.

I was young then (10) but I remember in was against the Pens. I thought is funny. My parents even laughed. I brought binoculars to the next few games to”see the players” better.Jeremy Roenick wasn't THAT long ago!
