Regardless of defense or goaltending, you're not going to win many games by scoring one goal.

those last 5 minutes were seriously unacceptable

stars had 3 guys deep and our defensemen couldn't figure out how to get the puck out of the zone

“The Kings are a good hockey team.”

Welp, the new fore checking scheme isn’t fooling anyone anymore based on the recent stretch of games

That is pretty depressing.

I had hoped that maybe if things fell right the Kings could be a playoff team by next season, but I think they are further away than I thought. 21-22 is probably the Kings first chance to be a playoff team.

That's provided the Prospects actually start producing at the NHL level.

Roman Polak has one of the most punchable faces in the league, and his haircut is doing him no favors.

I'm not sure I've seen someone start their side part at the inside of their eyebrow before

Roman Polak's haircut, still more interesting than the Kings, who despite seeing this movie 100x before, can't seem to realize that you CAN lose a hockey game in 37 seconds.

I think they're farther off than that, because their 'impact players' are at least two years out, and that's if any of this crop of d-men can take a huge jump. Drew Doughty has entered that year where men realize that 30+ makes you mortal and will have to either figure it out or fall off the map, and even a Kopitar Hart year isn't enough to save the offense.

At this point I'm hoping for Lafreniere AND Aatu Raty and even that may not be enough to make us competitive by 2023.

Also, dunno if anyone noticed, but Doughty and Forbort were reunited towards the end. That alone nearly made me turn it off.

I honestly think they moved Walker off of Doughty's pair to generate more offense. Not so that Doughty could generate more offense, but so that Walker and Roy could. They were out there late.

Well, look on the bright side, they didn't get embarrassed once again on nbc. probably gonna save that for the outdoor game.

In case anyone was wondering, if the Kings lose tonight, they'll be 17-24-4. Through 45 games last season, we were 17-25-3. So we would be one whole point better.

we're a less sucky version of last year. i swear, every time we get within 2 or 3 games of .500 this year, we drop 3 in a row.

This group would improve purely by trading away some of the current roster. However Toffoli is really starting to show value and losing him will definitely make our forward group worse. It still has to be done though.

If we are a bubble team in 21/22 then the rebuild is going well. We mustn’t rush these guys and a push for play-offs before they are ready could set them back 2-3 years easily. We just need to keep reminding ourselves of the mess in Edmonton and how they screwed up the development of so many decent draft picks (helped by poor drafting too) by rushing them. We have to be patient, as hard as that is.

At least they realised they were going to mess up the tank if they kept playing well. It’s good to see them recommit to the cause.

2.11 GF since Dec 19th, worst in the league(Det and Buf are very close though). They haven't scored more than 2 goals in regulation in 8 of the last 9 games. The 1 game was against the Flyers, and they suck on the road, but, the Kings actually took advantage of something.

I guess they emptied the tank in Pittsburgh and then Boston, and ever since, they have nothing left. Save for 1 period against the Flyers.

Iafallo leads the team in goals(4) and points(9) in these 9 games.

It's a young NHL. Kings have enough skilled prospects. they just need 2 to surprise in training camp next season. You'll be surprised how quick this turnaround can be. D-Core needs to take another step forward(they should), Cal-Jack-Quick is plenty capable. The vets on this team are starting families, its no coincidence that the players who have newborns are having poor seasons with Doughty now and Carter, Kopi, Brown, Quick in the past. Something to consider going forward. Also need another vocal leader. Ever since Greener/Willie/J-Dub left those role(s) have never been filled and is a must for these youngsters to have around.

Yeah, I don't expect the immediate impact from our prospects that some here are hoping for when they arrive. By the time the prospects find their best "NHL-games" the Kings will have eaten through almost all of Kopitar's contract and a significant portion of Doughty's. The Kings best prospects are still teenagers. I don't expect them to fully arrive for another 3-4 years.
