Its a few pages back in this thread I believe.

yeah, page 107 in this thread, it's in one of my posts about halfway through the page.

Wow. Yeah, it is easy to see how they lost their composure with this frame of mind.

Very easy to see, and it's why they lose.

I mean the guy purposefully sticks his leg out as the player is circling the net (and that can ruin a guys career with a knee injury very easily) and then he has the nerve to go on with that crap after the game?

Great player, but man he will get straightened out quickly in the pros should he continue with this immaturity and foolishness.

Gonna enjoy cheering against that guy till the end of his career now, new public enemy number one for me.

You're talking about a 17 year old kid. How old are you?

I think there's a more generous interpretation of that penalty -- it also explains his surprise at the call.

He braced and threw his hip into what he though was McLeod finishing his check. The leg swings behind as he pivots his hip to catch the incoming player who wasn't trying to hit him at all but trying to cut behind him in pursuit of the puck.

Still a penalty to stick a leg in front of an incoming player regardless of intent. Still a bad choice to not just try to avoid or absorb the hit.

He will probably be in the NHL as early as next year, he is fair game for a fan to either adore or dislike.

And I now dislike him.

Or is it only the Brad Marchands of this world that can be loathed by fans?

A lot of emotion for such a trivial play

I dunno, just watched that one again and I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

McLeod is pretty agile skipping around him, Dahlin was inches away from a gorgeous hip check -- as not a McLeod fan I kind of want to peek into the alternate world where he gets him squarely, woulda been spectacular... but...

It us still probably a penalty if it looks like McLeod is avoiding and the hip moves into his path, but a much closer call than when the trailing leg trips him.

Right, because an incredibly biased and bitter yank who takes every opportunity to trash Canada behind the safety of his computer screen would know. It’s not like this is its birthplace, or where it’s played more than anywhere else, or where most players come from, or where there is the most leagues or anything. Nope. Couldn’t be.

I’ve seen you point out where your from and where you live before, do you think this adds weight to the nonsense you spew? It doesn’t, because nonsense is nonsense, be it from Canada, USA or Europe.

After team USA’s performance against Sweden you can’t possibly be trying to point the finger at someone else in regards to diving. Kyrou embellished, that was all, the USA team were flinging themselves all over the ice to the point you’d think there were a few snipers in the stands.

Wait, you think I bash Canada?

Show me 1 post of mine where I bash Canada? You'll never find it. What an incredibly ridiculous statement by someone that is so easily offended by something that wasn't even said.

Lol, nonsense I spew...good lord. Either you're mistaking me with someone else or you have some insane bias towards Americans.

I'm sure there are plenty more like you who will voice their displeasure at Dahlin once he is in a stadium at a location convenient to them.
Nationalism mass psychosis, I call it.

That's exactly what it is. Equally much on both sides.

Avoided comment in this thread cause it went from banter to straight flaming but LMAO @ the posts above staying they gonna hate a player for ever for acting like a baby by making folish comments at 17 years old after losing the most important game so far in his life. Whats your excuse? LOL. Something tells me that what you guys are really bothered about is the critisicm againt the refs and the implication that the game was not won fairly.

Yup. Emotion is for on the ice, off ice personalities need to be in the best interest of the image of Hockey Canada. Dahlin was free to say he was upset with some calls, but if you completely discredit the other teams win and say that your countries values are superior.... That crosses a very obvious line and is disgraceful.

Edit: I am not saying this is a generic sweden thing either. I've heard comments from a number of players just as smug. Just makes me hate them, they are still good players.

Just as a question: Do you happen to speak Swedish? Because the interview was in Swedish and the translation is really short and misleading in places.
Dahlin DID NOT say his country has higher values... he simply said, that the way the Canadians played that night would not have been tolerated in Sweden (meaning refs there would not have given as many penalties). Then he said had they (Canada) not played that way it would have been a different game and adds (and this was not translated!) "I don't know really". After that the journalist probes him about the diving and he just responds that diving is not something they do IN THE SWEDISH LEAGUE (again not translated to the exact wording), it doesn't belong in hockey. In the end he actually says that he is not going to stand there and put the blame on the circumstances.

As for being emotional here: Dahlin is not emotional at all in the interview despite being asked about his emotions and saying that he feels pissed. He is rather composed.

I think giving this 17-year-old shit for being upset after a lost game and pointing out that Canada benefitted from a lot penalties they wouldn't have received in a Swedish setting is just overly didactic...

I think you are right in your sarcasm, fans wlll forget this once he's here.

I'm sure he will too, or do you think he will be swallowing his pride and debasing himself to play in North America where the sport is played in such a low form? No, he already knows he was wrong (at some level, at least) now that the adrenaline has worn off.

Please specifically say what would have been different in a "Swedish setting."

You make it sound so innocent to conjure imaginary diving and accuse the refs of bias. It really does seem to be the national narrative there about this and I think it is amazingly out of touch with reality. Which of those penalties isn't a penalty in Sweden??? Are yellow jerseyed teams allowed to trip and interfere there?

He indeed might hear about it in Canadian arenas when he plays there or he might not, I don't know.

I just know I won't ever like him.

Thank you for the game on Friday, as always Sweden was a talented and tough opponent.

I was loving watching him play and then yesterday he pulls that crap in the game and then talks this nonsense because he can't take a loss.

Will never like the kid again and will actively root against this guy for the rest of his career, i dont care if he cures cancer. I am a habs fan and if he somehow fell into our lap with getting the number one pick I would only want us to trade him, don't ever want to see him on my team ever.

Just a punk.

From the throwing away of the silver medal to this garbage in an interview(and God knows how many of their players were also parroting this nonsense)....................this is the worst I have seen a team react after a loss in international competition for quite some time.

I don't know how swedish fans could back these guys up, they have not done them proud at all.
I think Russia at the 2015 World Championships was notably worse.

Dahlin said some dumb stuff in the heat of the moment. It wasn't a good look, but it also wasn't an unforgivable sin. Lias Andersson by all accounts is a good hard working kid who lost his cool temporarily. The Russians were adults who disrespected a traditional procedure and just skated off the ice leaving a couple of their countrymen to stay and apologize (respect to Gino and Ovi who stayed).

He saw the guy coming and that all he was doing was circling the net to chase the puck and he purposely sticks his leg out to upend him, its plain as day really.

After watching his after game comments it is not surprising he would do stuff such as that. I guess that sort of stuff is tolerated in Sweden though eh Dahlin? Maybe he should have mentioned that in his crybaby after game loss interview.

what a little shithead of a player.

Yeah, that was probably worse, what the Russians did there was downright terrible.

This fiasco would be second though, Andersson and Dahlin certainly weren't anything for swedish fans to be proud of on Friday.

So he knew McLeod was going to cut inside? Stepping through the video frame by frame it isn't evident that McLeod is going to avoid the collision until the last moment. Dahlin's leg is outstretched making a c-cut to swing the hip into a check. That's what I see.

But we can't read his mind, so nothing is "plain as day" about it to me. Maybe you are right -- maybe he's hanging the leg out on purpose to completely block the path. And since it isn't a penalty where he's from, why not, right?

geez............no shit!! Especially when it's a total crock accusation.

The guy better learn to take losses better or he won't end up being half the player his talent level suggests he can be. When you pull a move like he did in that game and then cry about the refs afterwards just because you lost you better not be insinuating the game was not won fairly.

It's already been mentioned before and I will mention it again since some of you still refuse to get it. If you always take on a victim role every time you lose you will keep losing most of the time when it matters.

It's a losers mentality and you need no more proof of that then your record at this thing in must win games.

But go ahead, I know it is easier to whine and blame then look inward at where the actual problem resides.
