Is it an age thing? or plays in NA? or both?

It's definitive not a 'North American bias' thing considering Bragin gave more ice time to utterly atrocious Sokolov (OHL) than to Svechnikov. Sokolov shouldn't have even made the roster imo.

Good effort by Russia, but the lack of organization, teaching and strategy is becoming more and more glaring at the WJC. The 3rd US goal is a classic case in point. An American crosses the red line and dumps the puck in, but the Russian defensemen do not chase the puck or try to slow the American forward in pursuit, who walks in alone and fires a shot at Sukhachyov, who is already on his knees and out of position to stop the high shot. All the good work the team had done in the period has gone for nothing.

The team has been in a downward trend the last 2 years and it looks worse for next year. Maltsev is a good personification of the Russian decline. He is big, fast, a good stickhandler, but looks as if it were the first time he had ever laced on skates. He has no idea what to do or where to go, so when he gets put under pressure, he starts making mistakes and creating opportunities for the opposing team. Unless there is a complete reorganization of the youth program, the lack of talent and knowledge is becoming more pronounced.

I expected Sokolov to look like Bellows has looked in this tournament. Bellows isn't the greatest skater either. Sokolov was dreadful though. Would be surprised if he sniffs the NHL.

Well hopefully the U.S-Sweden game is really good, this is usually the best tournament of the year but I don't feel this tournaments games have measured up yet.

Congrats to USA
I guess Woll wasn't so bad in this one

First goal is about as soft as it gets and it was only the second shot of the game for Russia..after that he was ok at best. Don't feel confident at all with him in net against Canada/Sweden/Czechs. USA was lucky that Russia has the worst powerplay ever.

Samberg and Perunovich, both play at Minn Duluth, have been really really good.
Fox needs a lot of work in his end
Hughes isn't looking good at all

I always thought Bragin is a strong coach. But after this tournament I don't think so... He is more motivator rather than the great coach... 90% of this loss is on coaching staff. I hope he didn't ruin Svech psychology. What was the point to give him so little playing time and almost no PP time. He shouldn't be even taking him then... One of the weakest Russian teams in terms of names I can remember as well.

Bellows shot is ridiculous. He’s team USA triggerman. As an islanders fan and obviously team USA fan it’s been great to watch.
