this thread not seeing much traffic. Okay, I'll kick it off and go out on a limb....Swiss for the W in OT 3-2.
 
Russians will sure want to make up for that opening game performace. I think they win by 3-4 goals.
 
Having seen the pretournament game against Canada, im not very optimistic that the Swiss team can pull off an upset against a top team especially against the bigger and older Russians againt whom we always struggle more than against other teams. On top of that we just played yesterday while the Russians are rested.

If we want to have a chance, we'll have to play defence first, what kinda goes against our coaches playing philosophy.

I still dont understand why people underrate the Czechs.. They have a good team with some solid prospects and yet everyone thinks they are some type of underdogs. USA losing to Denmark now THAT would be an upset.

That would still be an upset. Czechs are decent but just not the caliber of Sweden, a team on a 41 game prelim win streak.

The Swiss usually play the Russians tough and this is not the best Russian roster we've seen, so it's quite possible. In any case, sitting back and trying to play defense has never been the path to success for this team. They often play over their heads by showing no fear of a superior opponent. Switzerland has been one of the only lower level teams to be able to do that, which is why they've been getting results the last decade at all levels.

Am not saying they should sit back and hope for a lucky bounce but Wohlwend (Swiss coach) seems to think sometimes the only difference between us and the big hockey nations is "winner menatility" and therefore lets the boys play against top teams as if they were Germany. When that happens every mistake, every turnover gets punished and we loose by a wide margin like against Canda last week in the pretournament. Of course, if you want to win you need to score goals, but that needs to hapen without loosing your head defensivley.

after losing the opening game Russia will come blasting from all guns here. 4-1 win for Russia
 
4-0 Russia. Swiss don't have the top end talent and what they do have is 18 or younger. After coming back yesterday to probably lock up a QF spot expecting a letdown today
 
More boring uncreative hockey from Bragin's team. What else is new.

Sukhachev is absolutely terrible at handling the puck. If he keeps playing he will do something awful, give the puck away at some point.
