The call was right. The goalie removed his helmet - delaying game. Of course the play should have been stopped when the puck hit his mask. Refs didnt see it and when the mask wasnt broken or loose its penalty-worthy to just take it off with no reason.

How can people say it was a bad call? Just removing your mask in middle of a PK is okay?

None of the bands were loose before the goalie took it off by himself

doesn't matter what national team it is, Men's, U20, U whatever, it feels like we never score on a 5 on 3..wish we could just make it an extended 5 on 4 instead, would be better :P

The strap holding it tight at the back was knocked loose. So yes it was "broken". Goalies don't just do that for no reason. One did it one a game on Boxing day and the refs just blew the whistle saw it was broken and it was fine. If the ref took a moment to see it was broken instead of getting upset the goalie tried to show him up or something he would have saw the same thing. It's a brutal call.

Yep, I saw it loose too and most importantly, if a goalie does something like that it usually is for a good reason.

Ref really should have blown that dead, the goalie couldn't risk playing with a broken mask.

No the call wasn't right. You don't just blindly follow the rules that he "delayed the game" once you see that you f***ed up and missed an obvious stoppage. The strap was broken, the ref missed the call.

Not a bad call at the helmet removal, but not seeing that Tolvanen's snapper hit him square in the forehead?

Yeah, bad reffing

It looks like the Danish players are quite slow out there. Loosing every battle.

You could easily see from replay that the strap came off after he removed the mask, not by the puck hitting it.

Although it is not an automatic whistle now when the goalie takes one to the head, the strap was off before he removed his helmet, should not have been a penalty.

this is exactly what it was, an ego call.. didnt know st laurent was coaching this tourny.. some refs need to be taken down a peg ego maniacs always look for position of power and authority
