Why? He's looked okay and I'm sure they were cautious

Do we really need to go through a list of players who've had head injuries, were allowed to return to the game, "looked okay" and then developed more problems.

Cautious would be not allowing someone who had their had slammed into the boards at a high speed return.

Great to have the goaltending hold up so far.

Beautiful Crosby-like backhander on that 5th goal.

They need a better goal song.

Take it down a notch there lol you have absolutely no idea what is happening with Bean...so maybe try not to speak like you do.

Anyone watching knows that the kid slammed his head into the boards at a high speed.....it shows absolutely no concern to the player, his health and his career to allow a player to return to the game in this situation.

Please don't tell me you wait until the team tells you what happened because you believe that the team always tells the truth about injuries?? Common sense my friend. Kind of like with Auston Matthews. I said it was a concussion right when it happened -- it's not hard to tell. But because the team was tight-lipped and their media hacks worked to muddy the waters and lead people astray, some actually believed it wasn't a head injury despite the clear visual evidence of what the injury was.

Obviously the player will want to return, but this is totally on the Team Canada training staff and coaches for not caring at all about the long term health of Jake.

If a player goes flying into the end boards and clearly hits head against the end boards and needs to be helped to the bench, he should not return. I can't believe that's controversial.

Team Canada training staff is only a cut above the NFL training/coaching staff that allowed a quarterback to continue playing after having a seizure on the field.

Disgraceful.

LOL

Are you really saying that you watching on TV with potentially zero medical training are in a better position to decide whether he should or should not come back than the doctors who are there evaluating him?

Canada sat a guy for the game because he has a sore foot, and you think they’re going to keep a guy with a head injury?

You don't need a medical degree to see the kid's head crashing into the end boards and Jake being unable to get to the bench on his own....

Right, right. Medical staffs never allow players to return when they shouldn't...yep no history of that ever happening. :help:

I have seen medical staffs send guys in after worse incidents with no head injury, so now which irrelevant story that has nothing to do with what happened to Bean do we go with?

Its almost like the doctors are there to assess the situation because there are medical factors that make these situations unique so that you can't just look at a play and decide if there was a concussion or not.

7-0 Slovakia win, or 7-0 Canada win. 1 of those results

Damn, missed this result by 1 goal as well. twice in a row I picked 1 too many goals for Canada. Next time I should make a prediction and then subtract 1 goal from Canada. At least I got the earlier game right.

Though TBH this game could have easily be 10-0 or more. I thought Slovakia played well enough to get a goal, but we had so many other chances we could have buried. Thought it was a solid game for us.

Glad to see Bean able to return. Looked scary but after watching the replay a few times, it looks to me like his left shoulder might have taken the brunt of the impact.

They are gonna have their hands full with Sweden and the USA but Canada always rises to the challenge as an underdog, Sweden usually gets upset in the medal round, and the USA has never won back to back Championships - gulp, knock on wood. The USA is so strong.

I don't think they have proven their metal yet you can't judge them by their opening game against Denmark easily the weakest team in the tourney imo.

I didn't really like that game for Canada, would have liked to see a bit more intensity to start the game. The effort was consistent at least. The defensive situation is a bit scary with at least four of the defencemen nicked up to some degree.

This is what I was afraid of. The guy just wasn't ready.

If it is related to his earlier injury (and tough to think it isn't) that was a really terrible decision to bring him.

I could maybe understand if he were an elite piece but the change from him to Mahura isn't such a big drop off that risking losing him to injury was worth it.

I mean if all it takes is basically 1 game for the injury to come back how healed could he have been?

I'm thinking maybe his injury hasn't gotten worse, but he was never 100% to begin with. So they played him against a good team like Finland but rested him a bit against Slovakia because they could afford to.

OMG, it's my favorite logical argument! The "Exceptions exist existentially, therefore we should make a rule out of them" argument.
