Switzerland I'm lloking forward to watch. They had their NHLers and then the rest of the roster was from the NLA in sochi. And they lost to Sweden 1-0 and won 1-0 against the Czechs.

I think they're medal contenders

I would be ecstatic if Switzerland won gold. This sport needs more winners!

Russia.
But Russia can fail in these tournament (because Russia have lousy coach)

Sorokin
3 top line
Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Gusev
Mozyakin-Tkachev-Nichushkin
Shumakov-Shalunov-Kaprizov

and energy line
Telegin-Barabanov-Plotnikov

reserve list Grigorenko,Shirokov,Okulov,Svetlakov,Prokhorkin

Markov-Voinov
Ozhiganov-Kisilevich
Gavrikov-Belov

reserve list Marchenko,Nesterov,Tryamkin,Yarullin,Naumenkov

This roster with good coach can beat even Canada A-TEAM

Actually it would lose to Canada "c" team.

I'll second this pretty much. Personally, I agree with most that it's beyond stupid that the NHLers wont be there but I love international hockey and will still look forward to watching the tournament.

I concur.

Also, would love to see a new winner. Finland would be great, but I'd be happy with Switzerland too.
Maybe Finland vs Swiss final? :yo:

Probably going to be Fin vs Rus
or Rus vs Swe.

I doubt we'll see Can or USA in the final. Who knows.

Definitely :yo:

Plenty of storylines to follow- Russia will be the big favorites so fun to see how they deal with the pressure. Finland, Sweden and Switzerland will all be a lot of fun to watch. Not sure about Czechs and Slovakia, but Slovenia was good last time, and they do of course lose Kopitar but the rest of the team will be intact.

And it's still kind of unclear exactly how the US will go about choosing their team. Seems pretty certain college guys will be there- literally trying to re-create the miracle on ice??

Just for future bragging rights/crow eating.

Medal rounds:
Finland
Russia
Sweden
Switzerland

Out in Quarter-Finals:
Canada (vs Switzerland)
Czech Republic (vs Russia
Germany (vs Sweden)
USA (vs Finland)

Group stage:
Slovakia
Norway
Slovenia
South Korea

I would expect Russia to be the favorite, but realistically any of the traditional top 6 countries and Switzerland have a legitimate shot at gold. Maybe Slovakia or Norway go on some sort of underdog run and make the bronze medal game.

For the top 8, mine are:

Russia
Canada
Sweden
USA
Czech Republic
Switzerland
Finland
Slovakia

Definitely :yo:

A couple will (such as Adam Gaudette). Majority will be euro-based pros. IMO the U.S. and Canada rosters will be pretty similar.

1. Russia
2.Canada
3.Sweden
4. USA
5. Finland
6. Czech Republic
7. Switzerland
8. Germany

KHL gets so overrated imo. Top SHL teams would finish high in the KHL aswell. Speaking of the "KHL factor".

1. Russia
2. Sweden
3. Finland/Canada

I don t think so! KHL is strong! The western Conference(SKA,CSKA,Jokerit etc.) ist stronger than SHL. Besides some good Swedish players are in KHL(Omark,Kronvall,Zackrisson etc.) ;).

I agree that it's a stronger league. But I don't find the gap as big as some seems to do. Honestly I don't think a team like Jokerit would run away with SHL at all

Jokerit is very strong this Season! They could beat a SHL-All Star Team ;). The Problem is that the KHL is too large. KHL with 14 Teams like SHL and this
League is extremly strong ;).

I dont think so.

Dick Axelsson - Johan Ryno - Ryan Lasch
Oscar Möller - Pär Lindholm - Joakim Lindström
Frederik Storm - Derek Roy - Nichlas Hardt
Rene Bourque - Andreas Engqvist - Andrew Gordon

Kristian Näkyva - Jesse Virtanen
Marcus Högström - Daniel Rahimi
Mikael Vikstrand - Rasmus Dahlin

Okay ;)! But Jokerit has not no chance. But SKA beat this SHL-All Stars.
