I think it gets a little undersold sometimes, but Lundkvist has some pretty big boom potential too
I think he has been undersold a bit as well especially because of the excitement K'Andre has brought (at least in my opinion). Do you feel Lundkvist is 2 years away or more (2020-2021?) since he is playing with grown men already.

For sure. He is playing in an excellent league, but has been a bit up-and-down. Nothing concerning, really. In fact, the reality that he can play and produce in the league at all at his age is great. But, he still probably needs another year two years there before he's playing a big role, logging big minutes. And then when he does come over, with the game he plays he will almost certainly need a full year to adjust to the smaller NA rinks, the pace, and the physicality. I think he's four full years out. He just turned 18 four months ago, though, so that's totally fine.

Up and down in terms of ice time and performance? Because he hasn't been sent down in the way people think he was. He was sent down for 2 separate days in a weekend so he could play for the U20 side but he never missed a game in the SHL because of it.

He's an easy kid to overlook because Kravtsov and Miller almost immediately jump out at you and are featured more prominently on their respective teams.

It's also worth pointing out that both players are 8 and 7 months older respectively. Not a small gap at this stage in development.

Kravtsov and Miller really give me a lot of faith in the amateur scouting of this team. They saw the boom potential in both and didn't get caught up in the hype around other guys.

Agreed. Add in the pusuit of both Keller and Pettersson, which is why I have faith we should see another high end pick or two this coming draft.

Add in Howden and Hajek as well.

Up-and-down in terms of TOI and performance.

Some additional context, since apparently I provided none in my original post.
You can see the fluctuations in his TOI here: #27 Nils Lundkvist

Just having a regular spot in the SHL at 18 is very good for him. Also consider he didn't turn 18 until about a month and a half before the season. He's a very young 18. And his production, relative to other players at his position and age in the SHL, is excellent.

If he were in the U.S. he'd be playing in the CHL and probably putting up huge numbers against teens. Instead he's playing in a league way above the CHL leagues, with men, guys that have extensive NHL and AHL experience in many cases.

Given my participation in and contribution to all threads involving our prospects, I would think I wouldn't be subject to this kind of condescension.

I never meant to sound condescending. I was reading the forum on my phone and my browser doesn't show the avatars and I missed it was you. Apologies if I sounded condescending.

I feel like Lundkvist right now just needs more context around what he’s doing to really get how impressive it is, like his offensive numbers aren’t super eye popping, but they’re up there with some really good players, and he won best defenseman in a league where he only played like half a season last year because he was getting a good amount of time in a better league, which he’s now a regular in

I never knew this.

Of D-men that played at least 10 games in SuperElit last last year, he was 17th in P/GP. He must flatout dominate the pace of games at that level for him to have gotten their "Norris" with those totals.

I wonder what criteria they use and how it differs from the NHL criteria.

I couldn't find any specific details on the process, but curiosity took me down a rabbit hole (rank in P/GP; min 10 GP):

17-18: Nils Lundkvist (17th in 26 GP)
16-17: Erik Brannstrom (1st in 19 GP)
15-16: Gustav Forsling (Never even played a game in SuperElit, but was near 0.5 P/GP in the SHL)
14-15: Jacob Andersson (3rd in 45 GP)
13-14: Sebastian Aho (7th in 27 GP)
12-13: Robert Hagg (2nd in 28 GP) -(1st was Calle Andersson)
11-12: Hampus Lindholm (20th in 28GP)

Looks like Lindholm was a similar "reach" based purely on points; good company!

But the Forsling pick has me thrown completely from the scent. Maybe one of our Euro posters could shed some light on how the selection process works?

Maybe one of the mods can move these posts to the Lundkvist thread?

Kravtsov just got an assist on Traktor's first goal against Admiral. 1:1

Glinkin scored. Glinkin - Polygalov - Kravtsov continues to be Traktor's second line.

Paul Szczechura is back for his first game after a lengthy injury to center Traktor's first line (Stoa and Thomas on wings).
