There was someone on here back in the day, who I won't name, who had something like 24,000 posts in their first year . That's just shy of 66 posts per day. Assuming they needed 8 hours a day to sleep, that works out to one post every 15 minutes for 16 hours per day!

And they weren't/aren't alone.
Yeah I forget who it was but they had as many posts as I did in 10 years within 1 year...was like a 16 year old right?

Even if the team finishes bottom 5, it's not a lost season.

Total win-win season:

We either exceed expectations and make for a best-case scenario situation (from a developmental standpoint) getting all the kids good reps on a team on the rise.

Or we bottom out, sell off, recoup solid assets whilst drafting a BEAST on top of the haul we’ll be getting at the next draft.

Looking forward to the finish line, man.

The only thing that concerns me is Gorton's penchant for ignoring the rankings when drafting. I could see this team winning the lottery and passing on Hughes because they had someone else higher on their board.

Can't remember. Ppl come and go so often, and they change names too much as well.
The name change thing sucks. You used to be able to hover over the username of a poster and see their previous handle. I don't know if there's any way to do that anymore. Like half the board, I see with 2007 join dates and 40,000 posts and I have no idea who they are. Somebody is going to change their name to Vitali Kravtsov on here and have 50K posts and I'll never figure out who it is.

EDIT: Just found the "username history" tab. Gonna be figuring some shit out for a while.

Yeah, you’re probably right. Ranger life 4 eva.

Personally, I love when I see a post from someone that makes me raise an eyebrow, only to realize it's someone whose posts I generally like and have for a while.

In fairness though, almost every team does this.

There are a number of guys who went 3-8 that this board wouldn't have wanted at 9 --- including some that would've generated at least some push-back from members about value for where we were picking.

Boards are a weird thing. Teams fall in love with certain players because one or two scouts do. Just like they did with Jessiman. Can't fall into that trap too much. You have to look ISS and CSS and look at where they have a player as compared to the rest of the rankings.

Yeah, the idea that publication rankings are ‘consensus’ (or ‘right’) is stopping so far short of even thinking how draft lists are made by the publications and teams. I get seeing hard solid numbers and thinking there’s gaps between them (“always go BPA”), but while gaps like that do exist, there’s a lot less of that than people think.

Not saying you don’t already understand this, but man it’s kind of driving me insane lately

I think a lot of people would be surprised to see that many teams usually have several guys ranked equal, or very close.

Some teams assign an Olympic-style scoring system when looking at prospects (an 8.750 vs. a 8.725 type scenario), others cluster guys together because they are more or less in the same range, and many teams utilize a hybrid approach.

However, more often than not, teams usually have several guys with just about the same score. In that case they'll almost certainly go with the position they need rather than a redundant position.

If they do end up drafting a player who plays a position that is considered an organizational strength, it's usually a pretty clear indication that they particularly liked the player.

Aren't pubes also hair?

I mean yeah, but given the choice which would you rather eat?

I still see Kershaw posting around HF under a different username. Not going to say who he his here or in PM so as to not blow up his spot.

The "pube bet" was a classic.

Ok glad I'm not misremembering. Whoever is Kershaw out there, we still haven't forgotten.

He’s talking about traktor being a bottom 5 team. And yes that would be a disaster for kravstov’s development. They are a joke right now not competitive at all
