My wish list is as follows:

1. Matthew Peca
2 years at 1.3 per

2. Ryan Reaves
2 years at 2.3 per

3. Re-sign Archibald
2 years 2 way at 850k per and 350k per minors

Trade Gaunce for the love of god.

How does that help?

Gives our young guys insulation!! Let’s them play without fear. Haven’t had much toughness since Dorsett left.

Then why trade Gaunce? One of the only Canucks who played heavy last year, is fine defensively, makes no sense.

Hopefully we stick to one or two small signings and avoid terms over 2 years and just let some of our younger kids play. De Haan or Grabner or Reaves would be nice. Obviously Tavares would be amazing but I give us a .001 % chance to land him even if we offered max $.

I like Peca, would also take a chance on Petan if he comes cheap. I have a feeling Benning will sign a guy like Tyler Wotherspoon. Auston Czarnik is another one I'm interested in. No guys over $2 million/year this offseason. Chances are there'll be some quality players on waivers if we wait.

I think we have different opinions of heavy. Gaunce isn’t nearly agile enough or fast enough to actually connect on any hits.

He’s not tough so he doesn’t act as a deterrent.

I respectfully disagree, I would rather have a Reaves flying along side Gaudette then Gaunce.

Adding Greg Pateryn to my wish list. I think he could be our poor mans version of Tanev. Also would allow us to trade Tanev.

I wouldn’t be upset if the Canucks signed Vanek. Veteran and great on PP.

Grabners success in NY is in large part due to AV’s system which is tailor made to speedy transition players

We don’t play the same system and Sutter can’t pass, highly doubt green wants the winger on his shut down line flying the zone

Virtanen played small stretches with Sutter last year. It didn't stop Virtanen from flying down the wing. Like I said in my previous post a lot of Grabner goals doesn't require an elite center to get him the puck to score

If Grabner causes a turnover and that turnover had a chance to be an odd man rush. Do you really think Green is telling his checking line dump the puck in instead and stay back. I dont think so. I think you might be getting Willy and Green coaching style mixed up.

Fair enough. In the games I watched him he was connecting on hits and forechecking well. Also he is cost effective. I don't really expect anyone to drop the gloves these days, so that does not factor into my thinking.

Agreed, but I still think intimidation is a major factor.

Gaunce is a solid forechecker, I’m just not sold that he has much upside beyond that.

Always been a fan of a 4th line that crashes and bangs.

Jay Beagle would be a good sign, perfect 4th line C.

I do think Canucks should wait until next season and go all in on Karlsson.

Gaudette most likely will start on the 4th line. Beagle can be an insurance in case Gaudette needs ahl time which I think is highly unlikely

Here are my current UFA targets:

1) Derek Ryan (C) - maximum 2 years, maximum $3.5M AAV

2) Matthew Peca (C) - maximum 1 year, maximum $900k AAV

3) Antoine Roussell (LW) - maximum 1 year, maximum $2.5M AAV

4) Paul Postma - maximum 1 year, maximum $900k AAV

5) Ryan Sproul - maximum 1 year, maximum $900k AAV

Everyone who got a seat at the table is better right now anyways. We wouldn't have gotten far.

Rousell or Reaves come on down I guess ?

Is Dhaliwal the only person covering the Canucks these days?

Very refreshing to hear this, not saying there needs to be fights every game but with a ton of youth coming in it would be nice for them to feel protected.

@hoyhoy42
Peca?
5'8 - 175?

With Hughes and Pettersson also possibly making the team.

Why not get the 135lb rusissian we drafted here in October as well.

I guess the team bonding event this year isnt going to happeb at Playland since half the team cant ride the rollercoaster

Archibald was a great soldier. I wont lose sleep losing him in free agency tho.

Hes been waiver eligible for many years now and teams have passed on him.

Good leadership and heart type of player but skill his skating and hands are nowhere near NHL level

Judging by Benning's comments on Tavares, I don't think we'll shell out a ton of money.

Term is where I'm concerened...

Ha, yeah I watched Peca a few games last year. He is very quick and would be a major upgrade on some of the Canucks 4th liners.
