I am a big fan of the classic artists from history

, and abstract expessionism paintings in Jackson Pollock style have always thrilled me

. I was thinking, how about create a mask with abstract expressionism? I made some tests and saw it could work....

I showed Eddie Läck my ideas, and he said why not test something new...

I started to splash the colors... The Abstract Expressionism Mask was born...

My friend Alex Georgiev had an awesome idea for his new New York Rangers mask

. He is a big fan of the Russian art style Gzhel

. And I also love it, the blue wavy lines created with a gentle brush. Alex and I were thinking who could help us paint the Gzhel paintings. Since the mask will have a Russian tribute paint, how about ask a Russian matryoshka doll if she could help us paint the Gzhel paintings on the mask on the NYC brickwall ?

So on the the side of the mask, the matryoshka doll pops up with her blue brush

It was such a joyride to paint and create Braden Holtby’s latest Capitals mask️. Braden and I have been working together for so many years, and this mask is created as a direct continuation based on his previous masks. A mask design with all the Holtby mask trademarks... This design is also all inspired from the old and beautiful Caps logos with the Capitol in focus. It has a clean cut look on a distance, and when you come closer the storytelling in the details kicks in... Thanks Braden! It is always a joy to create a new mask for my friend James Reimer. We have been working together for many years. His latest mask is of course based on his awesome nickname Optimus Reim... This mask is the first step in a series of masks of transformation.... On this mask the truck is still a truck, transforming into The Optimus Reim!
