I really hope Toffoli doesn’t shit the bed again this season. His value will plummet more than it already has. Will suck knowing that there was a possibility we could’ve got something like Toffoli+ for Pacioretty or Kessel for him...

Toffoli + for Stone.

Toffoli played his junior in Ottawa and was a fan favorite so could help sell some tickets for them. I imagine the plus would have to be significant for Ottawa but then again I look at the San Jose deal.

i'd take Clague over LaDue at this point, despite what some of you think of him

i think Clague has done enough in the WHL, they were saying during the VAN game that he was avg 37mins in the playoffs or something?

also, any info on this Pascal Laberge kid? i didn't even know he signed a PTO w/ LA or am i confusing him w/ someone else? Wasn't he one of Philly's top prospects??

I'm not panicking over a poor preseason, but it's just not fun to follow when they frequently lose or play poorly

Agreed, it would've done some good for the rookies to have some positive winning energy around that team.

Ultimately the system hasn't changed and it's all on the coaching staff, so that aspect will indeed spill over into the season

The way these 4 games have played out, you can staple them to last season and people wouldn't even know the difference

hopefully we can work thru this system and hope that our core players have found new ways to score on their own

ON THE PLUS SIDE, LA has scored at least 2 goals in all 4 games, which is special (and most of them on backup goalies which is our Achilles' heel)

I couldn’t help but notice his lazy attempt there. LaDue didn’t look impressive either, but Tyler just seemingly gave up on the play.

Yeah I don't know if you saw that game but the whole play top to bottom was a disaster. Credit Van for good movement, but seemingly everyone lost a guy and systematically broke down. Partially chemistry issue I'm sure, partially laziness/effort as well as inattention. I forget who turned the puck over in the first place--Amadio?--but they had everyone going the wrong way. Then you see in the frame both Thompson (ugh) and Toffoli (ugh) being completely unacceptable slugs. Muzzin goes to check a guy who one of the forwards should have, and he makes a great play. LaDue was at least in position, but made the wrong choice for sure.

Jesus christ no. Clague is an absolute mess. There is no justification for this. LaDue actually looked really good most of the night last night, shaking forecheckers, making good defensive plays, and actually getting shots through traffic. He looks much more confident and calm. Clague looks utterly lost unless he has the puck with no pressure. You're buying the hype/potential without watching.

Toffoli is owned more money than Stone.

JAD is nowhere near making this team based on the two games at Staples. Love him as a prospect but the NHL is too much at this juncture.

Rempal is easily Ontario bound as well. Only prospect to look NHL ready out of these two games is Brickley.

The Clifford fight was okay. If a decision were to be handed out, it would go to Clifford which, I guess, is actually a big win for him at this point. Full credit to two veterans fighting in a pre-season game though. Just more fuel to the Clifford intangibles debate.

I've never passed along rumors on this board, but I did learn from a reliable source to look at Philly in the event MacD is sent to Ontario.

That really wouldn't surprise me, and I'm mentally ready to accept Dermy won't make it through waivers this time. Stothers is going to be depressed. He's shown that he can play in the NHL, maybe not consistently as one would like, and I agree he is a tweener at best, but he could bring an element that an NHL team is looking for and with the Philly connection and knowledge of our older prospects I would not be shocked. I don't think he is good enough to knock anyone out of our top 7.

He was, unfortunately, at fault for the last goal scored with a minute left in the game last night. Otherwise, he played solid. Was very good on his outlet passes while Fantenberg had several bad reads, including a horrible pinch that led to a 2-on-1 goal.

Brickley is going to be hard to keep off the roster.

8/6/27/3/24 for sure. Leaves two spots. Probably LaDue and Brickley. Maybe Forbort opens on IR? I know Brickley can go down and not be claimed, but he might be too good to send down just to save Phantom or Mac.

It isn't good for Phantom if he looks like trash against Vegas since they are a fast team and he is supposed to be at his best against this style of play.

My hope is that Brickley meshes well with Doughty while Forbort is injured, and then Forbort can move down the line-up to help some more defensively poor lines. But reallyy, we have way too many NHL calibur D men, something has to give.

Losing MacD to keep Fantenberg is DUMB.

If Forbort is ready to go, they could potentially lose both. Hearing some of Stothers comments earlier at the Reign state of the franchise event, reading between the lines, it's clear they are prepared to potentially lose a couple players on the waiver wire.
